Bookies are still looking for the man who won £240 000 betting on the election
Catriona WebsterBecky BarnesMay 11, 2015 A Glasgow pensioner who bet £30,000 on a Conservative majority in the general election has yet to collect his £240,000 winnings. Ladbrokes said there has been no sign of the customer since he placed the wager at odds of 7/1 in a branch in the city centre on 29 April. The bookmaker has appealed for the man to come forward to pick up his prize.Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “There’s still no sign of our record-breaking election forecaster following on from his incredible political prediction. Whilst there’s never a time limit to collect any winning bet, we thought he’d have made a beeline for us as soon as the result was confirmed. Again we’d like to congratulate him on his win. He’s shown pollsters and pundits up and down the land the way to do it.” On Friday it was revealed that Britain’s biggest political punter, who made £193,000 by correctly guessing the outcome of the Scottish referendum, has lost his winnings and more by incorrectly guessing the outcome of the General Election. The man, who according to William Hill has placed the two biggest political bets of all time, wagered £200,000 at 2/9 on a hung parliament and then added a further £5,500. He previously bet £900,000 on the outcome of September’s Scottish referendum, winning £193,000.
