These are the 10 most wanted Britons on the Costa del Crime

Indy100 StaffMar 17, 2015 The National Crime Agency (NCA) and Crimestoppers have released a list of the 10 most wanted fugitives believed to be on the run in Spain. Part of an initiative called Operation Captura, the list has been released with a warning from the NCA's head of international operations that Spain is no longer a "safe haven". The appeal is the ninth of its kind since Captura was launched by the NCA and Crimestoppers in 2006. So far, 65 out of 76 named suspects have been caught. Here are the 10 most wanted who are still on the run:

1 Mohammed Jahangir Alam 32

Wanted by Gloucestershire Police for rape and sexual assault by penetration. Alam, who is from Bangladesh, arrived in the UK on a temporary visa in October 2007. He lived in Bradford before moving to Cheltenham in 2008. During this time he physically and sexually abused one victim. Alam was convicted in March 2010 and sentenced to 14 years in his absence. He is 5ft, 8ins tall. His last known address was in the E3 area of London.

2 Paul Buchanan 29

Wanted by West Mercia Police on suspicion of attempted rape. Buchanan, originally from New York, is believed to have followed a woman near his flat in Redditch, Worcs, pulled her down a driveway, pushed her over a car, and attempted to rape her. The victim screamed which alerted the residents of a nearby house who came to her aid. Buchanan fled the scene. He is described as 5ft, 10ins tall.

3 Carlo Dawson 52

Between 11 October 1996 and 10 October 1997 Dawson, from Croydon, is believed to have indecently assaulted a 12-year-old girl. When Dawson’s computer was seized in 2013 officers found indecent photographs of children of a varying degree of severity. He is 5ft, 10ins with a two-inch scar on his right palm.

Between 1 July 2012 and 30 October 2013, Dennis allegedly conspired with others to import three tonnes of cocaine from South America into The Netherlands using logistical contacts in South America and Europe. Between the same dates, Dennis allegedly assisted in or induced the importation of 67.5kg of cocaine into Belgium and Germany. Dennis is 5ft, 3ins tall.
