Indy100 StaffApr 14, 2015 The American Library Association has released its annual list of books that received the most complaints challenging why they were in the library to begin with. Third in the list is Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson's take And Tango Makes Three, based on the real-life story of two male penguins who raised a chick in a zoo. Complainants, made up of parents, teachers and other members of the community, said that the book actively promoted a homosexual lifestyle. An analysis of the ALA's lists from the Diversity in YA organisation last year revealed that 20 per cent of books that are challenged are written by non-white authors, while half of the books are about non-white people, non-heterosexuals or disabled people. ...
