What would happen to Jeremy Clarkson if the British public decided

Evan BartlettMar 13, 2015 Although more than 800,000 people have signed a petition calling for Jeremy Clarkson to be reinstated*, a new poll has found the silent majority hold the opposite view. According to research by YouGov, and shown in this chart by Statista, 45 per cent of the British public say the Top Gear presenter should be sacked while 36 per cent say he should not. Labour voters were found to be the most likely to call for Clarkson's sacking while Conservative voters were most likely to say he should not be sacked. Lib Dem voters were most likely to sit on the fence with only 66 per cent offering a view one way or the other. The exact details of the "fracas" involving Clarkson and a BBC producer have not been disclosed by the broadcaster, but rumours allege the presenter threw a punch because he was offered cold meats instead of steak and chips for dinner after a long day of filming. *Editor's note: This post originally stated that 800,000 had signed a petition calling for Clarkson to be "sacked". They had, of course, called for him to be reinstated.
