Most aspiring actors in the UK may dream of Hollywood, but Amy Jackson, 23, from Liverpool, has made it big in India. It' s a long way from Merseyside to Mumbai
Amy was spotted at the Miss Teen World beauty pageant in 2009 by leading director AL Vijay who snapped her up for his film Madraspattinam. But, as she told the Mail on Sunday, "I'd never acted in my life. AL Vijay asked if I could dance and I just said yes. I didn't tell him the only dancing I had done was on nights out in Liverpool." That' s the stuff dreams are made of
You can say that again. She's attended to by an army of stylists, assistants, bodyguards and a housekeeper, and lives in a luxury flat overlooking the Arabian Sea. But it hasn't all been plain sailing - Amy's had to learn Tamil for her roles even though her films are dubbed. While her mates were hitting the town back in Liverpool, she was working up to 20 hours a day. Her latest film, called I, is soon to be released. The hardest thing she has to deal with is being mobbed in the street... and the odd marriage proposal. Marriage proposals
"A lot of the letters are from guys declaring their undying love," she said. "I do get marriage proposals – not official ones obviously. They say, 'We've watched the film six, seven or eight times'." She' ll never walk alone
