Dina RickmanNov 23, 2014 A survey of university students past and present by Which? has found one in five graduates believe their experience was bad value for money, while 26 per cent of current students said they could do little work and still get good marks. Of the current students surveyed by Which? on their academic experience, only 49 per cent described the levels of work they were given to do as demanding. Less than half of students said university seminars were worth attending. And in findings that led Which? to dismiss university regulation as “not fit for purpose”, graduates complained their courses had poor value for money, lacked support and contact hours with tutors and that the teaching quality was weak. The consumer group’s executive director Richard Lloyd said the next phase for the university sector should be about helping students get "value for money" in return for their £9,000 per year tuition fees. YouthSight surveyed 997 graduates, 1023 first and second year undergraduates on their university experience and 4,519 students in second year and above on course changes and complaints in three separate online surveys conducted by on behalf of Which?
