Seven things we can expect from Ed Miliband' s conference speech today

1 End an NHS funding crisis

Save the NHS amid forecasts of a £30bn funding gap by 2020 - by using some of the £2bn proceeds from the party's high-value property tax.

2 Raise the number of first-time home buyers

A Labour government will hope to double the number of first-time buyers to 400,000 a year.

3 More apprenticeships

Ensure that as many school-leavers take up apprenticeships as go to university by raising the number of places available from 100,000 to 400,000.

4 Halve the number of people on low-pay

There are currently five million people on low pay.

5 Tackle the cost-of-living crisis

By ensuring the five million self-employed people are not "locked out" of pensions and mortgages.

6 Green industry improvements

Double the number of jobs in "green industries" to two million.

7 Better health care service
