Reddit users are sharing images of their newly adopted furry friends and they are so cute, we just can't seem to stop smiling. From tiny newborn kitties to long-sitting shelter dogs, these little critters were saved from the hardship of living on the streets and are leading a full and happy life. We had 4 in 2019. We have one 15 yr old left. It's very hard on us emotionally and sometimes financially but every animal deserves a loving safe home. We're going to wait a little bit before we adopt again. He's healthy as far as they can tell and he has so much energy but he developed these lumps all over in the past month. Hoping they are just fatty cysts bc of his age. Could be stress from losing his companions too. She just passed away the day after Christmas from a hemangiosarcoma that grew around her heart. Didn't know that she had cancer until we were at the emergency vet after she suddenly collapsed. Sarcomas are very aggressive & fast spreading type of cancer. The vet thought the cancer had likely only been there for a few months. It's a terribly sad time at my house right now. I just hope that she felt loved & cared for these past 3.5 years. In spite of the initial veterinary costs to get her long neglected health issues taken care of & in spite of the pain of losing her so suddenly & unexpectedly- I will absolutely make room for a senior dog in my home going forward. I am going to wait a bit myself to emotionally recover before adopting or fostering again. It's difficult because you can't help but get attached. Yet the time with them is short. RIP Pansy . Your lovely pup definitely knew she was loved. It is heartbreaking when they are sick. After my first elderly rescue about 12 yrs ago I've never turned back. We've had a few beautiful pups that only spent a few months w us but I would not change it for the world. I will always adopt the elderly ones I can't imagine them not having a home to spend the rest of their life in. Makes me so sad to even think about it. I think I stopped trying to find her a home in part because I wanted to make sure Pansy got to live the kind of doggy life that she should've had all along. And the only way to make certain that happened in however much time she had left was to keep her with me. It changed how I view rescue & fostering & adopting too. And I feel the same as you do, the seniors need a home & it's hard to find them one. Thank you for your kind words & bless your 15 year old dog. He spent the first 4yrs of his life in a trailer with 80 other dogs. We have a fenced yard and everything was new, grass, butterflies, snow. View more comments Since it's that time of the year, we can't help but think about the little puppies and kittens crawling out of the gift boxes. However, there's a never-ending dialogue about pet adoption during the holidays. Various animal welfare organizations have policies against it since many think that cats and dogs that weren't chosen by their new owners will not be seen as valuable. Before you decide to adopt, there are plenty of factors to take in, both positive and negative. Needless to say, getting a pet as a gift is a dream come true for many. One of the benefits of taking in a pet during Christmas is that most of the family members have a few days off from school and work, so there's extra time to get familiar and ease the transition of adoption. She just passed away the day after Christmas from a hemangiosarcoma that grew around her heart. Didn't know that she had cancer until we were at the emergency vet after she suddenly collapsed. Sarcomas are very aggressive & fast spreading type of cancer. The vet thought the cancer had likely only been there for a few months. It's a terribly sad time at my house right now. I just hope that she felt loved & cared for these past 3.5 years. In spite of the initial veterinary costs to get her long neglected health issues taken care of & in spite of the pain of losing her so suddenly & unexpectedly- I will absolutely make room for a senior dog in my home going forward. I am going to wait a bit myself to emotionally recover before adopting or fostering again. It's difficult because you can't help but get attached. Yet the time with them is short. RIP Pansy . Your lovely pup definitely knew she was loved. It is heartbreaking when they are sick. After my first elderly rescue about 12 yrs ago I've never turned back. We've had a few beautiful pups that only spent a few months w us but I would not change it for the world. I will always adopt the elderly ones I can't imagine them not having a home to spend the rest of their life in. Makes me so sad to even think about it. I think I stopped trying to find her a home in part because I wanted to make sure Pansy got to live the kind of doggy life that she should've had all along. And the only way to make certain that happened in however much time she had left was to keep her with me. It changed how I view rescue & fostering & adopting too. And I feel the same as you do, the seniors need a home & it's hard to find them one. Thank you for your kind words & bless your 15 year old dog. He spent the first 4yrs of his life in a trailer with 80 other dogs. We have a fenced yard and everything was new, grass, butterflies, snow. We have one 15 yr old left. It's very hard on us emotionally and sometimes financially but every animal deserves a loving safe home. We're going to wait a little bit before we adopt again. He's healthy as far as they can tell and he has so much energy but he developed these lumps all over in the past month. Hoping they are just fatty cysts bc of his age. Could be stress from losing his companions too. She just passed away the day after Christmas from a hemangiosarcoma that grew around her heart. Didn't know that she had cancer until we were at the emergency vet after she suddenly collapsed. Sarcomas are very aggressive & fast spreading type of cancer. The vet thought the cancer had likely only been there for a few months. It's a terribly sad time at my house right now. I just hope that she felt loved & cared for these past 3.5 years. In spite of the initial veterinary costs to get her long neglected health issues taken care of & in spite of the pain of losing her so suddenly & unexpectedly- I will absolutely make room for a senior dog in my home going forward. I am going to wait a bit myself to emotionally recover before adopting or fostering again. It's difficult because you can't help but get attached. Yet the time with them is short. RIP Pansy . Your lovely pup definitely knew she was loved. It is heartbreaking when they are sick. After my first elderly rescue about 12 yrs ago I've never turned back. We've had a few beautiful pups that only spent a few months w us but I would not change it for the world. I will always adopt the elderly ones I can't imagine them not having a home to spend the rest of their life in. Makes me so sad to even think about it.
