In fact, around 1 out of 5 Americans who has ever had any social media account has used a beauty filter before posting pictures on social media, according to this report. And while their damaging role on self-esteem and confidence is crystal clear, the rise of selfie culture is bringing people to new levels of fakery on social media. The TikToker and makeup artist Holly Cockerill has clearly had enough of that. While knowing the inner workings of the beauty industry, she showed just how fake social media is. In a series of TikTok videos, Holly 'exposed' her own Instagram vs reality selfies that went viral, amassing millions of views. The girl is showing you what people do with these photo editors. The "before" pictures are the exact same picture as the "after". I was astonished to know she's 40lbs heavier, has acne everywhere and has a chipped front tooth (not that this is a sign of being ugly! She still beautiful!) When none of those thing were ever featured on her IG.... which she looked so pretty when I saw her IRL! She had just had a baby and I understand she wanted to edit that out but I for one would much rather see healthy, normal women than photoshopped sized nothing and perfect everything. I have no experience with them at all. I do have a lot of experience with Photosho though, and to get the results shown here she'd have to take alternate pictures in the same setting with a smile and maybe different hairstyle and copy and paste those bits in the orignal. Plus a lot of morphing and airbrushing of course. And for the hairstyles that are too different she'd have to copy and paste those from entirely different pictures of different people (and find matching pictures). Or maybe 3D model it? Lots of work. There are most definitely apps that do this. Sadly, you don't need an iota of photoshop experience to do this type of editing any more. I tried one of the apps to see it with my own eyes. Gave myself a smile with perfect teeth using a photo where my mouth was closed, contoured my face, added volume to my hair - the lot, and all with a couple of taps of a button. Deleted the whole thing once I was finished. It was really unsettling honestly. EDIT - If there's a way to DM on here shoot me a message and I'll tell you the app I used. I don't want to encourage people to use it by posting publicly. You can add hair, you can be closed mouth and the editing app gives you a smile, new teeth and all. Most "influencers" use these apps. I was astonished to know she's 40lbs heavier, has acne everywhere and has a chipped front tooth (not that this is a sign of being ugly! She still beautiful!) When none of those thing were ever featured on her IG.... which she looked so pretty when I saw her IRL! She had just had a baby and I understand she wanted to edit that out but I for one would much rather see healthy, normal women than photoshopped sized nothing and perfect everything. I have no experience with them at all. I do have a lot of experience with Photosho though, and to get the results shown here she'd have to take alternate pictures in the same setting with a smile and maybe different hairstyle and copy and paste those bits in the orignal. Plus a lot of morphing and airbrushing of course. And for the hairstyles that are too different she'd have to copy and paste those from entirely different pictures of different people (and find matching pictures). Or maybe 3D model it? Lots of work. There are most definitely apps that do this. Sadly, you don't need an iota of photoshop experience to do this type of editing any more. I tried one of the apps to see it with my own eyes. Gave myself a smile with perfect teeth using a photo where my mouth was closed, contoured my face, added volume to my hair - the lot, and all with a couple of taps of a button. Deleted the whole thing once I was finished. It was really unsettling honestly. EDIT - If there's a way to DM on here shoot me a message and I'll tell you the app I used. I don't want to encourage people to use it by posting publicly.
