Benedict Cumberbatch ‘ Power of the Dog’ Skills Saved a Family
Posted By: Brittany Francoon: February 25, 2022In: Movies, NewsTags: Benedict Cumberbatch, the power of the dog Print Email One of our favorite Marvel doctors, Benedict Cumberbatch, stars in the recently Oscar-nominated ‘The Power of the Dog.’ During the ‘Power of the Dog’ movie filming, Cumberbatch learned ranch skills to prepare for his role as Phil Burbank, a skillful ranch handler. These ranch handling skills proved to be quite helpful to Benedict Cumberbatch outside of the movie set as he ended up saving a family in real life with his newfound cowboy skills. The Oscar-nominated British actor Benedict Cumberbatch recently revealed on the BBC’s “Graham Norton Show” that he went on a beach trip in the United Kingdom after production finished up for ‘Power of the Dog’ in New Zealand. It was there that the Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness star found himself using his ranch handling skills to save a family from a herd of cattle. Benedict Cumberbatch went on to say, “I came back from shooting the film in August, and we were off to the beach…To get there, we had to cross a field, and in the field was a petrified family who just couldn’t move. They were frozen because of a herd of cows with calves…I thought, ‘I can do this,’ and I just sort of parted the waves of cattle. The family was like, ‘That was incredible. Hey, aren’t you Sherlock?’ It was very un-Sherlock activity!” The ‘Power of the Dog’ Benedict Cumberbatch movie is a Rated R Western/Drama released in November of 2021 on Netflix. The Netflix film is adapted from the 1967 Thomas Savage novel of the same name. The ‘Power of the Dog,’ directed by Jane Campion, has received 11 Oscar nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards, including Adapted Screenplay, Sound, Production Design, Original Score, Editing, Directing, Cinematography, Best Supporting Actress (Kirsten Dunst), Supporting Actor (Kodi Smit-McPhee & Jesse Plemons) and Best Actor (Benedict Cumberbatch).
