All Weapon Types in Elden Ring

Martin, Elden Ring is now finally released for fans to try and explore the fresh new open-world environment. Just like other similar games in the genre, players will be able to create their own characters and have a large variety of different weapon types in Elden Ring to try out and master. These all fit various different playstyles and can be useful in different combat situations, so it’s important to get a general understanding of all of them. So for fans looking to find the fighting style that best suits them, here is a list of all the different Elden Ring weapon types and what they do.

All Weapons in Elden Ring

Axes

Axes are one-handed heavy weapons in Elden Ring that are especially useful in close combat and PvP situations.

Ballistas

Ballistas are a long-range weapon type that can fire Greatbolts. Great bolts are useful for breaking enemy stances and running in for the kill.

Bows

Bows are another long-range weapon type, perfect for staying away from dangerous enemies. However, they offer no guard protection and can’t be infused with Ashes of War.

Claws

Claws are two-handed close combat weapons that are perfect for dealing quick damage and evasion. They inflict bleed status on enemies, which makes them take damage over time, and are ideal for Dexterity Builds.

Colossal Swords

Colossal Swords can either be one-handed or two-handed weapons. They are heavy and swing slowly, but deal massive damage.

Colossal Weapons

Colossal Weapons are similar to Colossal Swords and are also large club-like weapons that take a large amount of strength to wield. They make the character slower but deal more damage.

Crossbows

Crossbows are another long-range weapon type perfect for hitting enemies from a distance. They deal more damage than bows but take more time to reload and have a smaller range.

Curved Greatswords

Curved Greatswords are a sword variant that specializes in dealing slash based attacks. They deal massive damage to enemies but cut players’ mobility.

Curved Swords

Curved Swords are a different type of sword that also deals slash based attacks. They are the fastest melee weapon type in the game, which is perfect for hard-to-hit targets.

Daggers

Daggers are two-handed short-range weapons. They specialize in high critical damage and quick speed and are commonly used for backstabs and Ripostes. Daggers are perfect for stealth builds,

Fists

Fists are melee-type weapons that cover players’ hands and deal strikes quickly.

Flails

Flails are melee-type weapons that has an incredibly long reach. They deal high single damage to enemies but make characters slower.

Glintstone Staves

Gintstone Staves are magic-based weapons that are needed to cast Sorceries. They are great for dealing damage from afar, but sadly don’t come with any skills.

Greataxes

Greataxes are large melee-type weapons that require a lot of strength to wield and are perfect for breaking through enemy defense. They deal massive damage but leave players open to counterattacks if missed.

Greatbows

Greatbows are another long-range type weapon that can hit enemies from afar. Unlike normal bows, these can be upgraded with Ashes of War.

Great Spears

Great Spears are another melee weapon type that deals huge amounts of damage from a long range. These are also heavy and sacrifice speed, but are great when fighting on horseback in Elden Ring.

Greatswords

Greatswords are powerful melee weapons that deal massive damage but sacrifice mobility and speed.

Halberds

Halberds are melee weapons that have a long reach but only deal moderate damage. However, their damage type can be modified with Ashes of War, which makes them versatile.

Hammers

Hammers are slow but massive melee weapons that are perfect against heavily armored enemies. Hammers can break both enemy’s guards and shields.

Heavy Thrusting Swords

Heavy Thrusting Swords are large sword weapon types that deal piercing damage. They are mainly used to counter enemy attacks and can be combined with a shield.

Katanas

Katanas are mid-range melee weapons that can deal both slash and thrusting damage to enemies. Additionally, they can inflict the hemorrhage status effect, which deals extra damage.

Light Bows

Light bows are long-range weapons that fire faster than normal bows but don’t do as much damage.

Reapers

Reapers are long-range scythe weapons that are perfect for hitting enemies with shields from behind. However, this requires proper spacing.

Sacred Seals

Sacred Seals are used to cast incantation spells and require a high faith stat. Incantations are useful for healing players or dealing AoE attacks.

Spears

Spears are melee weapon types that are perfect for avoiding damage in close combat situations. Additionally, they are also great to use on horseback.

Straight Swords

Straight Swords are balanced melee weapons that can deal both slashing and thrusting damage. They are considered the easiest to master in the game, and can be paired with shields.

Thrusting Swords

Thrusting Swords are sword variant weapons that have great speed, reach, and damage. They deal both piercing and slashing damage to enemies.

Torches

Torches are mainly used to scare off certain enemies and aren’t ideal for most other combat situations.

Twinblades

Twinblades are melee weapons that can be used either one or two-handed. They can deal spinning attacks that are useful when gamers are surrounded by enemies.

Warhammers

Warhammers are large melee weapons that deal powerful attacks and require high strength to use. They are useful for breaking enemy guards and shields but are very slow.

Whips
