Dark Envoy A “ Guns N’ Sorcery RPG ” Launches Later This Year

Once you’ve played a few of them, you’ve usually got the basics down for all the rest. But of course, every game needs to bring something new to the table to set it apart from its competition. Some might say that the best games strike a balance between the old and the new. Event Horizon’s upcoming “Guns N’ Sorcery RPG,” Dark Envoy, promises to do just that upon its release date later this year. Today, publisher Asmodee Digital announced that Dark Envoy is coming sometime in 2022. Information about the game has been available for a while (such as the above trailer from last year). However, if you haven’t heard of Dark Envoy before, today’s press release includes a rundown of what you should know. Dark Envoy will fuse the old and the new in more ways than one
“In Dark Envoy, the players embody Malakai and Kaela, two children of war refugees. They are living the day-to-day life of adventurers as they seek ancient relics and forgotten places. Soon they too will have to learn how to survive in the chaos of war, as blood and tragedy will mark the beginning of their true journey.” Dark Envoy is a party-based, real-time strategy RPG set in the world of Jäan. It can be played solo or with a friend via online co-op. This is where that “old vs. new” thing comes in. It promises a fresh but familiar experience. “The game merges a rich, non-linear story and tactical, party-based combat with dynamic gameplay flow and high-quality visuals and effects. It blends modern concepts with classic genre tropes, creating a distinct and unique RPG gaming experience.” Event Horizon and Asmodee Digital are calling Dark Envoy a “Guns N’ Sorcery RPG.” We won’t know for sure what this entails until the game launches later this year. However, if the game’s Steam page is any indication, that “Guns N’ Sorcery” label is another example of Dark Envoy‘s fusion of old and new: “Jäan has exploded into total war as humans challenge the old balance and traditions of magic with their mana-based technology. Humans, mysterious beings with a far more mysterious past, are newer to this world but have risen under the banner of the self-proclaimed emperor to establish a place they can finally call home.” The exact release date for Dark Envoy has yet to be revealed, but we know this new RPG is coming sometime later this year.
