Ubisoft Cuts Off Service to 91 Games

Ubisoft has just cut off all online services to many of its games. Announcing in a blog post back on April 22nd. Ubisoft announced the shutting down of online service to 91 of their published titles, including Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six. Ubisoft ends service to over a decade of games
After making the announcement, Ubisoft explained that the end of services meant that all in-game news, updates, player stats, and multiplayer features were nonfunctioning. The Shutdown will affect other games like Anno 1404 and Online, Beyond Good and Evil, and Rayman Origins. The shutdown will also affect Ubisoft Connect, the rewards platform used by the developer. These games will no longer be able to earn points used to unlock in-game items, outfits, and artwork. Ubisoft did mention in the blog post weirdly enough that PC players will no longer have any access to any unlockable content. Still, players on the console who retain their old game saves will continue to have access to the content. While many of the titles on the list to cut are pretty old, some have been around since the earlier days of Xbox and PlayStation. There will be titles that are not quite as old, with several of the Just Dance titles on the PlayStation 4 and Wii U. If you’re a player that was still enjoying some of these older games, you may want to take a look at Ubisoft’s blog post. That way, you’ll know if one of you’re favorite games will lose its online functionality. But don’t think that Ubisoft is rushing to shut off players and leave them in the dark. Only now, Ubisoft is cutting off service to Rainbow Six Lockdown for the PlayStation 2, which was released in 2005. Tags: onlinegamingUbisoft Previous Several Classic Sonic Games Set To Be Axed
