Hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy (and later John Cena), this show challenged contestants to answer a series of elementary school-level questions in exchange for cash prizes. Maybe you always wanted to be on the show but never had the chance. Or perhaps you’re just a fan of quiz games. If either of those statements is true, then I have some good news for you! THQ Nordic has announced an Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? game is coming to PC and consoles later this year. Here’ s what we know about the ‘ Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader ’ game
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? is a quiz game based on its TV counterpart. According to today’s announcement: “Multiple-choice questions, true-or-false challenges, and minigames will test your proficiency in more than 24 different subjects. Faced with a tough question, you can always rely on your classmates for help! More than 6,800 questions on topics like animal sciences, vocabulary, math, and more are delivered by a diverse, fully voiced, and animated cast of characters. Beat each challenge alone or together with family and friends in exciting couch co-op multiplayer gameplay to prove that you are, in fact, smarter than a 5th Grader!” Although no new episodes of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? have aired since 2019, THQ Nordic believes this new game is a good next step for the franchise. In today’s announcement, THQ Nordic indicated optimism about the game and praised developer Massive Miniteam for their work: ‘With so many kids learning from home and so many of these gaming systems in homes worldwide, the time could not be better to revitalize Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? in the videogame space,” said Adrienne Lauer, Business Development – Americas, THQ Nordic. ‘The development team at Massive Miniteam has done a beautiful job of creating a game show studio environment and building out an experience featuring 8-player couch co-op multiplayer.’ The Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader video game is coming later this year for Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
