“ Riverdale” Camila Mendes to Star in New Amazon Rom-Com

Música will be released on Amazon Prime Video and is scheduled to begin production this summer. Image credit: J-14 Camila Mendes is best known for her role as Veronica Lodge on the CW series Riverdale. The series first premiered in 2017; it centers around the adventures of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and his friends Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge, and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse). They first try to solve a murder in Riverdale and then deal with the darkness uncovered, including gang wars. Portrayed by Mendes, Veronica Lodge is a sharp, ambitious high schooler who moves to Riverdale from Manhattan after her father is put in jail. She shares the role of Archie’s love interest with her friend Betty Cooper, forming the show’s infamous love triangle, and after an in-show time skip, ends up with a successful career on Wall Street. With producing and starring in Música, Camila Mendes will have her hands full, since Riverdale has recently been renewed for a seventh season. What We Know About Música
Rudy Mancuso is confirmed to be directing and starring in Música which will be released on Amazon Prime Video. According to Deadline, Música follows a young man (Mancuso) “plagued by the music in his head” as he is forced to “come to terms with an uncertain future while balancing love, family and Brazilian culture in Newark, New Jersey.” The film will be produced Wonderland Sound and Vision, which is also responsible for such cinematic successes as Love Hard (2021), Holidate (2020), Tall Girl (2019), and Tall Girl 2 (2022). Rudy Mancuso was responsible for writing the script alongside Dan Lagana (American Vandal) and will also head the production of the film’s soundtrack. Regarding Camila Mendes’s involvement in Música, Mancuso is quoted as saying, “I’m beyond excited to have the wildly gifted mind of Camila join this special journey of Música…where we’re telling an authentic Brazilian-American story through the eyes of a synesthete.” Though Camila Mendes has been confirmed as a producer for the film alongside Mancuso, Lagana, and Wonderland’s Steven Bello, information regarding her specific role in Música has not been released.
