“ Avatar 2” Title Revealed

The sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water will be directed by James Cameron, just as the original film was, with several original cast members reprising their roles from the first film. The original Avatar, released in 2009, features Sam Worthington (Call of Duty: Black Ops) as Jake Sully, a former Marine that joined the Resource Development Administration (RDA) after the death of his brother. The RDA’s goal is to extract a precious mineral known as unobtanium from Pandora, a densely forested moon orbiting the planet Polyphemus. Pandora is occupied by the Na’vi, a species of blue-skinned humanoids who live in harmony with nature. The RDA plans to use Sully as the latest in a line of human-Na’vi hybrid virtual “avatars” meant to secure the unobtanium and bring it back to Earth. The plan is taken off the rails, however, when Sully meets and falls in love with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), the daughter of the leader of the Na’vi, and ends up deciding to stay with the Na’vi tribe and destroy the RDA machines. The sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, will follow Jake Sully and Neytiri as they have children and face a challenge in the face of the return of the RDA. According to ComingSoon.net, Worthington and Saldana will reprise their previous roles, including Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, Dileep Rao as Dr. Max Patel, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Matt Gerald as Colonel Lyle Wainfleet, and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine. “Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure,” the official synopsis for Avatar: Way of the Water reads.
