Games has officially revealed the full official cinematic trailer for its upcoming, free-to-play fighting game, MultiVersus, ahead of the previously announced Closed Alpha coming later this week. The new MultiVersus trailer shows off several different characters previously revealed for the game from shows like Looney Tunes and Steven Universe and various DC Comics characters. However, the main focus of the new MultiVersus trailer is the reveal of several new characters who will make an appearance in the new video game. MultiVersus Trailer Analysis and Closed Alpha Details
The new MultiVersus cinematic trailer showcases the introduction and reintroduction of previously revealed characters as well as some new faces to join the fight for the free-to-play game, which so far has a 2022 release date. These include the DC Comics superhero Batman, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo!, Garnet from Steven Universe, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes, Jake the Dog from Adventure Time, Harley Quinn from the DC Comics, and Tom and Jerry. The newly introduced characters mainly showcased in the MultiVerus trailer are the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil, or Taz for short, the Iron Giant from The Iron Giant, and Superman. Beyond the three new fighters, the MultiVersus roster has so far been confirmed to include an original character named Reindog, all of the previously mentioned characters, as well as Velma from Scooby-Doo!, Wonder Woman, Finn the Human, and Steven Universe. According to Warner Bros. Games, this is only the beginning, and there are many more fighters that will come down the line. MultiVersus is set to begin a Closed Alpha on May 19-27, according to the trailer, which will include 15 playable characters — including Velma and Taz — and seven maps and several modes. These maps will include the Batcave, Adventure Time‘s Tree Fort, Scooby-Doo‘s Scooby’s Haunted Mansion, and others, and the available modes will feature the 2-on-2 team-based co-op 1-on-1 matches, 4-player free-for-all, and a practice mode. MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform brawler with a focus on 2-on-2 team fights that are set to release in Open Beta in July 2022 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC and will launch with full cross-play support in addition to server-based rollback netcode.
