The show reaches a wide, multi-genre audience, which is impressive for any television series. So far, its much-anticipated fourth season is proving to be just as popular as the first three. Even comedy fans can find something to love in the series with its funny quotes. Everyone has at least one distinctive comedic moment, from the ragtag group of protagonists to the lovable side characters. Stranger Things characters have a knack for delivering hilarious zingers at just the right times to break up the tension, and fans continue to love those funny quotes. 10 “ I’ m Stealthy Like A Ninja ”
Steve Harrington proves his comedic worth right from the beginning. In the first episode of Season 1, Steve utters this silly line while insisting he can sneak into Nancy’s bedroom while her family eats dinner downstairs. This is definitely teenage wishful thinking on his part. However, that’s part of what makes Steve such a great character. He can be very practical when things get tough, but his idealist side is downright romantic at certain points in the Netflix series. He may not always be the best boyfriend Nancy could ask for, but fans consistently love his sometimes-awkward charm. 9 “ You Can’ t Spell America Without Erica ”
Erica is the quintessential annoying little sister. She delivers consistent sass and tags along with her brother Lucas – whether he likes it or not. Season 3 features the perfect Erica moment: a mall scene with Dustin and Robin. Ever the naysayer, Erica points out the faults in their plan while obnoxiously slurping her soda. When Dustin questions her patriotism, she gives him a deadpan stare and utters this classic line. Erica has a level of attitude that most viewers could only hope to achieve, making her endlessly watchable. 8 “ And I Want To Date Bo Derek We All Want Things ”
Hopper’s sarcasm is one of his most endearing traits. In the first episode of Season 2, Hopper delivers this line in response to a tiresome request from former investigative journalist, Murray Bauman. Hopper is walking into the busy Hawkins police station with Bauman in hot pursuit, asking for “just five minutes.” The impossibility of sparing five minutes on a busy day is highly relatable for anyone with a hectic day job, which is part of what makes this quote so funny. 7 “ Sometimes Your Total Obliviousness Just Blows My Mind ”
Dustin is arguably the funniest of all the boys in Stranger Things with many funny quotes. He is also infectiously likable, winning audiences over from his first appearance in the show. Nearly every interaction he has includes at least one memorable, funny quote. In episode six of Season One, Dustin delivers this deadpan quip to Mike. Dustin says this to express his dismay about Mike’s inability to see what he has right in front of him. That’s something everyone could stand to be reminded of, sometimes. 6 “ Your Friend Is Stuck You Give Me Money I Make Him Unstuck ”
Dimitri joins Stranger Things in Season 4, and fans initially aren’t sure how to feel about him. He seems corrupt, but he’s also helping the well-loved Hopper escape from a harrowing Russian prison. He may have dubious intentions, but viewers slowly warm up to the characters over time. Ultimately, he wins fans over with his inadvertently funny delivery of lines like this one. He and Hopper develop a loose friendship at the beginning of Season 4, and any friend of Hopper’s is a friend of the fans of the Netflix series. 5 ” ‘ The Obvious Things Are Not What People Observe ’ Or… ‘ Do… Don’ t Observe ’ Or… Sherlock Holmes
Steve certainly has his smooth moments, but his best humor comes when he’s tripping all over himself. In Season 4, Steve hears Dustin quote Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Steve is inspired by Dustin’s quote and decides to try and repeat it to Nancy a few minutes later. His intention was to impress her with his literary knowledge. Instead, he stammers out this hilariously garbled mess of a quote. 4 “ It’ s Called ‘ Code Shut-your-mouth ”
Erica delivers this hilariously snarky quote via walkie-talkie in the fifth episode of Stranger Things Season 2. Her older brother, Lucas, and the rest of the boys communicate via walkie-talkie at all hours of the day. This activity keeps the friends connected, but it sometimes gets on Erica’s nerves. When Dustin is desperately trying to reach an absent Lucas about a code red with Dart, Erica takes matters into her own hands and ends the conversation with this quote. Finally, peace and quiet. 3 “ This is Mr Fibbly He’ s A Squirrel ”
Millie Bobby Brown’s breakout character, Eleven, begins Season 4 looking much more like a typical kid than ever before. This quote serves as the comic relief in an otherwise sad presentation about Eleven’s supposedly dead father. Eleven gives a diorama presentation in front of her class, and the way she introduces Mr. Fibbly, the squirrel, is both funny and heartwarming at the same time. Eleven isn’t necessarily known for humorous quotes in the Netflix series, but her deadpan delivery garners some laughs from viewers in this case. 2 “ She’ s Our Friend And She’ s Crazy ”
Dustin and the other Stranger Things boys are very protective of their friend, Eleven. However, they are also fully aware of the strength of her powers. Time and again, Eleven demonstrates that she is capable of great feats of telekinesis, and the boys love her for it. In episode six of Season One, Dustin utters this unforgettable line as a taunt to a group of bullies. The bullies were threatening Mike and Dustin and even tried to force Mike to jump off a cliff. Eleven uses her telekinetic powers to save the boys, prompting this funny declaration of pride from Dustin. 1 “ Mornings Are For Coffee And Contemplation ”
When it comes to funny Stranger Things quotes, Hopper definitely delivers. The show just wouldn’t be the same without him. This quote demonstrates what a lovable, relatable everyman Hopper is. He stumbles into the Hawkins police station wanting nothing more than a cup of coffee and some silence to start his day. Unfortunately, police secretary Flo has other plans. She bombards Hopper with a barrage of questions as soon as she sees him, prompting Hopper to bark this classic one-liner at her.
