Web-Weaver The First Gay Spider-Man Introduced

Posted By: Joshua Henryon: June 28, 2022In: Comics, NewsTags: Marvel Comics, Spider-manNo Comments Print Email Marvel introduces the first gay Spider-Man, Web-Weaver, in the upcoming Edge of Spider-Verse #5. The issue’s writer, Steve Foxe, shared an image of the new hero on his Twitter account. He also noted that in creating the new Spider-hero, they cannot represent all gay men. No two life experiences are the same, so Web-Weaver’s story is all his own, and something readers can experience later this year.

Web-Weaver’ s Design

Talented artist Kris Anka handled the design for Web-Weave. Anka shared the process of designing such an essential character on Twitter. The inspiration for the hero came from a lot of time spent looking at McQueen and Mugler designs. As Anka shares, they “cast a wide net for the original designs while also looking at new and unique spiders.” Of course, this all culminated in a design that is unique to the Spider-verse. Web-Weaver’s focuses on black, yellow, and white coloring. With accentuated sleeves and a sleek Spider logo, Web-Weaver is poised to make an impact in Edge of the Spider-Verse #5.

Edge of the Spider-Verse Series

This new five-issue series comes from the minds of Dan Slott, Mark Bagley, and other creators. Launching in August, each issue features three separate stories from within the Spider-verse or multiverse of Spider heroes. They feature some fan-favorite Spider-personas, including Noir Spider-Man and Spider-Ham. Of course, the series also introduces new Spider-heroes to the Marvel Universe, like Web-Weaver. Each issue builds to a climactic conclusion releasing later this year. A short synopsis of Edge of the Spider-Verse #5 announces that three new Spider-personas are about to get their start in the Marvel Universe. The first is Web-Weaver, who is actually a not-so-mild mannered fashion designer at Van Dyne. They get their powers and show the world a different Spider-Slayer. The other personas focused on in the issue are Hunter-Spider, which is Sergei Kravinoff imbued with Spider-powers. Then there is a Spider-Man so hardcore that fans are not prepared to know anything quite yet. Tags: Marvel ComicsSpider-man Previous
