We have people complaining about predatory tactics from big game companies. Companies such as Ubisoft or Electronic Arts, for example. In their games like Ghost Recon and Star Wars Battlefront, respectively. Players have sworn to boycott all these companies. Time and time again, we see social media exploding with people claiming they won’t buy anything from them. Imagine the surprise of hearing Blizzard earned $49 million during Diablo Immortal’s first month. Yes, Activision Blizzard didn’t fall behind with their tactics to get money from players. Activision Blizzard announced that the next Diablo game would be mobile-only, which sparked two famous things on the internet. The famous red-shirt guy and the developers ask: “Don’t you have phones?” Well, it seems everyone does because 49 million dollars just went right into Blizzard’s pockets. Diablo Immortal has been review-bombed to the ground. You can see how people are talking about the game on Metacritic. Yet, with the reviews, this hasn’t stopped players from spending their hard-earned cash on the game. And Blizzard just earned $49m during the first month. Now, as gamers, we are all familiar with spending money on games. However, the big debacle is the “pay-to-win” model. People do not like to spend money to progress in a game. All gamers or most of us believe that things should come to us just by playing. But knowing Blizzard earned $49 million has people confused. This is the outrage the gaming community has had for years. But it seems that money still keeps coming no matter how many complaints are out there. We have all seen that there are many ways to obtain objects in Diablo Immortal to progress. However, to get legendary items, you must put cash in the game. Some content creators have stopped playing the game in a way to boycott it. But the truth is that uniting a whole community of gamers seems harder.
