Minecraft How to Keep Inventory When You Die

Posted By: Ethan Webbon: August 31, 2022In: Android, Features, Gaming, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox OneTags: Guide, MinecraftNo Comments Print Email One of the most undesirable situations in Minecraft survival is dying far from home and rushing back to the location of one’s death to retrieve the fallen inventory. Of course, having a bed on hand will resolve this issue. Yet, it can be inconvenient and oftentimes impractical to constantly refresh one’s respawn point. Most adventurers likely prefer to have a fixed bed in their home base where they can bank their loot before any expedition. The various biomes of the randomly generated world are rich with resources, but there is no guarantee players can safely make it back with their haul. Therefore, knowing how to keep one’s inventory after death can be helpful.

Keeping Inventory After Death In Minecraft

Currently, the only way to keep one’s inventory after dying in Minecraft without altering the in-game mechanics is by holding a Totem of Undying, a guaranteed drop from elite mobs known as Evokers. This method does not exactly retain inventory items upon death but will instead keep players from reaching zero hearts for a single time.

Alternatively, those who do not mind modifying their vanilla experience in Minecraft survival can use a particular console command to keep their inventory when they die. Thanks to a demonstration by Stingray Productions, players can know the steps for inputting this command: Step No. Walkthrough Details 1 First, ensure that cheats are enabled. This action can be performed by entering the game options of an existing world and making sure “Activate Cheats” has been toggled on. This option will be available during the creation of a new world seed as well. 2 Next, press the input that opens the console text field; for PC users, this will be the T key. 3 Type in the command “/gamerule keepInventory true.” The quotation marks are included for clarity and are not required when inputting the command. 4 Players can now confirm they’ll keep their inventory upon death. One way to check is by setting a respawn point using bed and inputting the command “/kill .” “” is where a player’s name will go — for example, “/kill Jimbad97.” 5 If Minecraft fans ever change their mind regarding keeping their inventory upon death, they can toggle off the mechanic by using the command “/gamerule keepInventory false.” Minecraft is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One XS, Xbox Series XS, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
