Ubisoft Says Its Future AAA Games Will Be Priced At $70
Posted By: Danish Taleefon: September 14, 2022In: Gaming, NewsTags: AAA Games, UbisoftNo Comments Print Email To the dismay of gamers all over the world, the pricing of AAA games is going up wherever you look. For the longest time, all new AAA games coming out would cost $60, and it became the industry standard, something every player felt was acceptable. But then this new trend came about that bigger games deserve a bigger price tag, and Sony kicked it off by starting to launch games at $70, and unfortunately, Ubisoft is right in its shadow. According to a report from Axios, Ubisoft is upping the price for its AAA games by $10, landing at a fairly uncomfortable $70. Ubisoft’s first game that will match this painful price tag will be the pirateering action-adventure game coming out this November, Skull and Bones.Ubisoft’ s Pricing Strategy
CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, confirmed that all big releases for current generation consoles (Xbox Series XS and PS5) will be priced higher than before. Guillemot said to Axios: “Some of the games will come at the same price as the competition. The big AAA games will come at $70. This comes as no surprise, as $70 seems to be pretty much the new normal for major new titles. Releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops sold for $70 at launch, as well as NBA 2K21.” But something important to note from Guillemot’s statement is that he said only some games will be priced higher, not all of them. Assassin’s Creed Mirage, for example, will cost $50 when it hits shelves in 2023.Ubisoft made headlines recently by announcing not one, but four new Assassin’s Creed games in the pipeline.
