Jonathan Bailey To Join Cast Of Wicked Movie

However, it has now been confirmed that Jonathan Bailey will also star in the Wicked film as Fiyero. Jon M. Chu is directing the film. He announced that Bailey would join the cast after reports surfaced that he was “in talks” to play a role. The director tweeted, “He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together.” Wicked will be a two-part film with premieres in 2024 and 2025, and the film is set to star Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. The film serves as Ariana Grande’s official foray into film, while Erivo is highly regarded on both the stage and screen. Of course, among other works, Jonathan Bailey is widely recognized for his role in Bridgerton. Jon M Chu has directed such films as Crazy Rich Asians, In The Heights, and Now You See Me 2. It tells the story of who the characters were before they existed in Oz. Most people are aware of the Broadway musical version of Wicked. However, the story comes from the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, which he published in 1995. Wicked is one of the longest-running shows on Broadway. It also happens to be one of the most recognizable to non-Broadway fans. This status gives the upcoming film a bit of momentum that many other theatrical versions of musicals don’t have. Some musical films are big successes at the box office, but studios have experienced difficulty with most of them finding viable audiences. This is because there’s another CATS just waiting to happen for every Les Miserables. The Wicked film is coming from Universal Pictures.
