Charles Xavier Might Kill All Mutants

Last month, previews for X-Men Red #7 teased Magneto sharing his dying wishes with Storm. Those previews show the Master of Magnetism warning his fellow mutant to “watch Charles,” likely to protect him. However, with the full issue now out, it seems that those wishes were to keep an eye on Charles so he would not bring about the end of all mutants. Why Would Charles Xavier Do Such A Thing
X-Men Red #7, from Al Ewing and Stefano Caselli, picks up immediately after the events of Judgment Day #4. In the battle to stop Uranos from destroying Arakko, Magneto suffers fatal wounds. As he lies dying in Storm’s arms, he makes her promise him to keep an eye on Charles Xavier. While this may seem like Magneto just wanting his friend safe, it may be the exact opposite. He explains that Krakoa began with the three people; Moira, Charles, and himself. However, since its beginning, Moira betrayed everyone, Magneto deserted his post, and now Charles is the last one standing. While Professor X has always had the best intentions for mutants, Magneto explains that the dream of Krakoa is more than a single person’s dream. He believes a day is coming when Krakoa will be attacked and Charles will be forced to do something. That something is to kill all mutants in the name of martyrdom. According to CBR, this may just be the beginning of the new event teased at NYCC. During the Comic Con, a new event called “Fall of X” was teased for Summer of 2023. In talking about the event, Marvel shared, “The X-Men hoped Krakoa would last forever; Time to find out if they were right.” Writer Gerry Duggan added that the past couple of series and events see the X-Men actually winning. With the establishment of Krakoa and the ability to resurrect any fallen mutant, it has been going well for mutant kind. Perhaps too good.
