Kinne knew that his team has bigger games looming on the horizon. “And all of a sudden, people compressed up against each other and were pushing forward and backward. “We have some big challenges coming up, starting next week (at Texas A&M-Commerce),” said Kinne, whose team rolled up 567 yards of offense (451 passing, 116 rushing) in Saturday's victory. “We know they’re going to be ready to go and they really fly around on defense. reaching a settlement with one victim's family, marking the first known settlement of all of the cases surrounding the deadly music festival. Cardinals quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr., who threw five touchdown passes in limited duty Saturday, said he thinks the Cardinals, who have won their last four straight games, are ready for the stretch run before the FCS playoffs. There are still multiple lawsuits against Scott and Live Nation related to the mass casualty event. “We're right where we want to be,” said Scott, who now has 37 touchdown passes and only two interceptions this season. “We've just got to be ready to prepare during the week and execute the gameplan that the coaches come up with for us. I like where we're at right now.” Scott maintained during the interview that he had no idea people were dying in the crowd during his performance. Texas A&M-Commerce is a great team. They beat Southeast (Louisiana), who beat us. But our biggest opponent is ourselves.” Also on KSAT:. Our job is to get ready and execute the gameplan.” Scott, who only saw action in the first quarter and the opening series of the second period, completed 12 of 14 passes for 302 yards. UIW led 35-0 after one quarter and 56-0 at halftime before the second half was played with shortened quarters (third period being 12 minutes, fourth quarter being 10). “I knew going into the game that (Kinne) was probably going to limit how much I played today,” said Scott, who threw touchdown passes to four different receivers. “Because of that, I didn’t want to leave anything on the table. I went out there and was pretty efficient, I think, and I think as a whole, the 1s and 2s executed and even the 3s and 4s did well.” Along with the lopsided win, the Cardinals made some history Saturday, as Kole Wilson became the first UIW player to return two punts for a touchdown in a single game. Kinne said it was nice to get some of the UIW reserves some game action after their hard work in practice during the week. “It was good to see some new faces out there today,” said Kinne. “This was a great game for us to look at some different people and build some depth. A lot of players played well and this week was all about us getting better than we were. It was good to see some of the 3s and 4s who are the scout team who come to work every day be successful. That's what it's all about.” However, now that Faulkner (3-5) — an NAIA school that plays in the Mid-South Conference — has been dispatched, Kinne said that his team is getting focused for the stretch run of the conference schedule. “We're getting better every week,” said Kinne. “We're playing our best football right now and it's exciting to see that.” .
