You really get that Hill Country feel while still being in the city.  Having grown up nearby, this part of North Central San Antonio is familiar, though it’s definitely changed a lot. The company will announce the Hill Country location soon, Crescent Real Estate Chairman John Goff said in an email. My husband and I both grew up in the area and graduated from Churchill High School. My family lived at Bitters Road and Loop 1604, where my sister and I had lots of friends in the neighborhood and plenty of space to explore and be kids. “We are working on final entitlements/approvals. 25 for the first step of the approval process. We attended great public schools and were close to Fiesta Texas, Embassy and Northwoods movie theatres, and La Cantera. When we first moved here, there wasn’t much outside of Loop 1604, but now with the growth of San Antonio, it really feels like this area is closer and closer to the middle of the city.” Canyon Ranch was founded in the 1970s with the first location near Tucson.  READ THE SERIES San Antonio, and specifically this part of town, has always been home to us. Though my husband and I have lived in a couple of different apartments around the city, when it came down to it, we were drawn back to our old stomping grounds. VICI Properties owns landmark gaming, hospitality and entertainment properties including Caesars Palace, MGM Grand and the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. We now live at Legends on the Green apartments, and we love it. It’s right in the middle of a golf course with lots of greenbelt and fairway surrounding it. Related:. When the fall weather rolls in and we’re sipping our coffee out on the wrap-around balcony (on a one-bedroom apartment!), it’s like our little vacation from the hustle and bustle of the city that surrounds us. A family of deer will graze on the grass down below, the squirrels chase each other in the trees, and the hummingbirds often battle over the feeder I put out. Our view is of the tree canopy and the beautiful homes of Hollywood Park (my husband’s childhood neighborhood) up on the bluff in the distance.  Now that my husband and I live in the area again, we’re always hiking Eisenhower Park and riding bikes on the . It’s so cool that if you take that path south, it takes you through the entire city. A bicyclist rides on the Salado Creek Greenway trail in 2021. Credit: Nick Wagner / San Antonio Report One of my favorite local spots is The Bread Box bakery at Artisan’s Alley on Bitters. Before you even step foot in the door, the sweet smell of freshly baked bread draws you in. Artisans Alley was an old ranch home they turned into a bunch of little shops, and The Bread Box is nestled right in there. Not only do they serve a delicious breakfast and lunch menu, but they also host tea parties and make custom cakes. And for some coffee to go with your baked goods, the Me Latte coffee trailer recently popped up in front of the Dead Solid Perfect Golf driving range just up the road. The espresso is top notch and they always have seasonal drinks and fun treats, like their cream cheese empanada. If you’ve driven past it, you definitely need to stop by.  Another favorite restaurant in the area is the original Longhorn Cafe . Their Big Juicy burger with “cheddah” is so good and indulgent, and a basket of tots is the perfect side. You really can’t go wrong with this staple burger joint. Recently my husband and I had our baby girl at the North Central Baptist Hospital which is a mile from where we live. There’s a nice medical area here which has always been reassuring. As of late, I’ve really enjoyed going to the nearby Parman Library for their weekly Baby Time class. We sing nursery rhymes and listen to stories, then she gets to play freely with the other babies. It’s the cutest! The San Antonio Public Library has so much to offer and near every neighborhood in San Antonio, too. For baby shopping, there are high-end baby shops in the area that are so nice, but there are also several second-hand stores that we go to a lot for great deals. Also, right outside our complex are H-E-B Plus and Super Target. You really can’t beat the convenience of that. When you’re driving north of downtown and the road starts to bend and curve over the hills, you’ve reached the gem of North Central San Antonio. There are lots of special places in this area worth discovering. Saam Miremadi is the San Antonio Report’s business partnership manager. More from San Antonio Report .
