Nintendo Download: 6th March (Europe) Nintendo Life

Pac-Man, Tappingo, Luigi discounts and more by Share: A day later than normal — probably due to a public Holiday in Nintendo of Europe's homeland in Germany — we now have details of what will be gracing the Nintendo download platforms this week. There are some retail options on both Wii U and 3DS, the latest title from Goodbye Galaxy Games, the return of DSiWare and a lengthy list of discounts. Let's get to it.

Wii U Retail Download

(Namco Bandai, €44.99 / £36.99) — Accompanying the TV show starring the iconic character, this title finally arrives in Europe. It's a bright, colourful and charming 3D platformer that can also feel like a throwback to the earlier days of the genre, for better and worse. It's certainly worth consideration for children or enthusiastic grown-ups, however, as we explain in our .

Wii U Virtual Console

(Arc System Works, €4.99 / £3.49) — We may think games are violent today, but they weren't exactly hugs with teddy bears in the NES era. The beat'em up genre was rather popular, though this is perhaps one of the weakest of the best known button mashers of the 8-bit era. You can see what we thought in our .

Luigi Special Offers

Wii U: (Nintendo, €14.99 / £13.49 until 13th March, normally €19.99 / £17.99) — This is add-on content for . (Nintendo, €2.49 / £1.74 until 13th March, normally €4.99 / £3.49) 3DS: (Nintendo, €31.99 / £27.99 until 13th March, normally €39.99 / £34.99) (Nintendo, €2.49 / £1.74 until 13th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49)

3DS eShop

(Goodbye Galaxy Games, €2.99 / £2.49) — This is the studio's 3DS eShop début after its role providing some of the best experiences on DSiWare. A puzzler that has a hint of Picross in its approach, it nevertheless provides an enjoyable experience over its 100+ levels. Though a little lacking in variety we awarded this a solid . (Microvalue, €4.99 / £4.49) — It seems that the 'adventure' part is for others, as you play a park Ranger with tasks such as visiting log cabins and setting up "outdoor activities like boating, rock climbing, horse riding and mountain biking". We'll take in the views and see what this is all about in our upcoming review.

3DS Retail Download

(Namco Bandai, €34.99 / £28.49) — This 3DS version of the title seems to, perhaps unsurprisingly, take on a 2D perspective, giving an alternative for those unable to pick up the Wii U version. (Treva Entertainment, €29.99 / £24.99) — If you've wanted to own a stud farm then this is potentially one for you. Actually, scrub that, because in our view it's not very good; check out our for the full lowdown.

3DS eShop Temporary Discount

(Genius Sonority, €6.99 / £6.29 until 13th March, normally €9.99 / £8.99) (EnjoyUp Games, €3.49 / £2.99 until 3rd April, normally €6.99 / £5.99) (Gamelion, €2.10 / £1.89 until 1st May, normally €2.99 / £2.69) (Gamelion, €2.10 / £1.99 until 3rd April, normally €6.99 / £6.29) (Joindots, €5.99 / £5.99 until 27th March, normally €13.99 / £11.99) (Joindots, €6.99 / £6.99 until 27th March, normally €19.99 / £17.99) (Joindots, €5.99 / £5.99) until 27th March, normally €14.99 / £14.99) (Joindots, €3.99 / £3.29 until 27th March, normally €4.99 / £4.49) (Joindots, €5.99 / £4.99 until 27th March, normally €6.99 / £5.99) (Joindots, €5.99 / £4.99 until 27th March, normally €14.99 / £14.99) (Joindots, €6.99 / £5.79 until 27th March, normally €7.99 / £6.99)

3DS eShop Permanent Discounts

(Rising Star Games, €19.99 / £17.99, was €29.99 / £24.99) (Rising Star Games, €19.99 / £19.99, was €29.99 / £29.99) (Rising Star Games, €19.99 / £19.99, was €29.99 / £29.99) (Gamelion, €1.99 / £1.89, was €2.99 / £2.69)

DSiWare

(1st Playable Productions, 800 Nintendo Points) — DSiWare is back, rather oddly, as this game was released in North America way back in May 2011. This title combines the diverse ideas of turn-based RPGs and match-three puzzles, and does so rather successfully; we gave this a strong recommendation in our . Plenty of options to choose from this week. Let us know if you're planning to pick any of these up in the poll and comments below.

Share: Comments ) It would be totally embarrassing if I bought another copy of Dream Team Bros due to the sale... I was thinking that I wanted it until I remembered I have a brand new copy in a drawer somewhere. Gotta get around to it, eventually. i just can't believe that we have to wait a few more months for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
the world is cruel 8[ Il probably get Pacman as it looks like a ferly fun platformer (althow id rather get it on disc) Not much to see here. More rubbish. Yet again. I remember a while ago Capcom said that they weren't sure when the Game Boy Mega Man games would come out because Nintendo has such a packed VC release schedule. Renegade. On Wii U. That's it. And it's not like the retail / download releases are so mind blowing that it justifies a VC-less week on the 3DS. I want to give you my money Nintendo, but you really aren't making it easy. Will we ever get a code of princess discount? I really want to try it! But not at £24.99! Pac-Man's teeth terrify me. Why does he even have teeth? Nice discount on NSLU, hope it translates well to AUD Wakka wakka wakka... erm. What an awful week once again. Yet 3D mahjongg... it's so addictive - like tetris. Such poor offerings again but why this is the ongoing question? Once you take out the discounts it's 1game on vc wii u.
What's the point of this vc even the wii had more vc releases per week than this. Poor. Probably the only time we're gonna see discounts on first party titles and I own them all! Wasn't really worth waiting an extra day for (though it's interesting that it was a public holiday here also yesterday.) Wow, what a discount on M&L Nintendo! It's now the same as it is on Amazon! You're too generous! £24.79 on Base.com Half tempted by Super Mario on 3DS but the control mapping is dreadful. How difficult can t be to provide a control mapping option? New Super Luigi, can it be bought on its own without the Super Mario Bros game?
yep I thought it was 22 on Amazon. I'm usually the one who defends Virtual Console, but this is getting ridiculous. I really hope there's an overall boost in the release schedule once the GBA games show up. I'll be picking up the NES DK games, Pac-Man goes to the back on account of my just getting DKC:TF. After that the platformers need to take a break because I'm saturated with them. Deus Ex is going to be my next retail download. I might get SpeedX 3D, I remember the original being ok as far as mobile games go. Tappingo also looks pretty cool. Just to make 100% sure, can the download version of New Super Luigi U be played without New Super Mario Bros U? I don't really want to pay the £30 it costs for the original game, but I'd happily pay £13.50 for some quality 2D Mario goodness at a higher difficulty level. Some nice discounts here. Along with Tappingo i'll probably get Denpa Men 2, SpeedX 3D and Monster Shooter.
I'd also give Crazy Kangaroo a go if i could get it for 1€ one day. Yet again nothing worth getting. I'm still waiting on the N64 & GC vc titles that we were promised when the WiiU was launched. I have to say that this is getting a bit ridiculous. Come on big N, get with it. I'll even say please. ... Well pulling up a search right now, it's exactly £30 on amazon today. Nothing, not a damn thing. Step it up Nintendo. If we are not going to see another solid physical release until Mario Kart, make some noise in the eshop! The original Bayonetta would be nice. I already own it on the 360 but it would generate more excitement for B2. Now Europeans can enjoy Renegade! wow. thats alot of dicounts! I hope people give Tappingo a chance. A pretty addictive and different puzzler. And at an affordable price too. Went up then I got it for 22 not to long ago. careful, only the boxed version can be played without the nsmbu Well...bought a PS4 today.
Sarcasm, much? I got a spotpass about the Luigi sales. One thing. It told me Super Luigi U was 33% off. Nintendo lied to me, via spotpass too... But still how do you manage to have a Luigi sale and miss Luigi's Mansion 2? Then again if it was like the Mario & Luigi sale nothing of value is lost. As for this week. Denpa 2 even though I've still not beaten the first or started the demo for the second. Geuss this means Denpa 3 is coming soon. I'll also think about Tappingo. Year of Luigi has more weeks left either one or two more. No Denpa Men 1 for discount? Damn, still no Kid Icarus Uprising in the 3DS eShop, I wonder how long will Europe still have to wait? I may get Harvest Moon and New Super Luigi U (was even thinking of getting an eshop card to get it today but held off)> Do I need a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U. to play New Super Luigi U? Yes. What, it wasn't obvious? Thanks You can get the retail version without having New Super Mario Bros. U It has been around £20 for ages. Problem is the cartridge is faulty and Nintendo is too cheap to do a recall. Nothing there, will be waiting for Yoshi next week. I want a Lego Movie demo. And where is our Lost World Zelda DLC? I hope it gets released before E3. Wouldn't surprise me if its Hyrule Warriors themed to cross promote...Or scrapped altogether due to low sanic sales? (Please no!) Waiting for Shantae. There's not much I want from eShop at the moment, just that and Shovel Knight, propably Pokemon Link whatever later. Even though I have a nice library of Gamecube games, Nintendo should start releasing them on eShop. Heck, where are N64 games? wow so underwheelming. Wow,the eshop is becoming pathetic And there was me thinking there was going to be a surprise Dreamcast VC Release. Better luck next week I don't recall Pac Man having eyebrows? If you have the cartridge plugged in and connect to the eShop you should be able to download the patch for that problem. So no need for a recall or a replacement (in fact the download version is version 1.0, after opening the download you are prompted to update it to version 1.1). Absolutely awful selection this week, pretty much as usual. I was really hoping Moon Chronicles would be released.... It's worth every penny Whitehead- I want to vote for Life With Horses but it's not there! A whole lot of nothing. Does Nintendo even care about Virtual Consoles anymore? Considering purchasing Denpa Men 2, I really liked the first game. Should be able to but won't be able to forever. (Removing the main benefit of a physical cartridge.) Unless the patch is saved to the cartridge which I don't think it is. I paid £15 and it was probably just about worth it. I doubt I will ever want to play it again until the 3DS is as old as say the GBA is now though. Wow... A lot of words and discounts for crappy games to distract from the fact that it's another garbage week. Total waste of time week after week Strange how the Wii U version of Super Mario Bros. is £1 more than the 3DS, before the discount was applied. I played my free copy of the deluxe version, so I don't feel the need to shell out even the discount price for the ordinary version. So a poor week for me. Nintendo should release EVERY game featured in The Wizard for the Wii U VC! They should have a package deal for a week. I vote YES! they have had a sale fore that title at least 3 times in the las year so I expect another at some point. we should all just mass email nintendo saying, "Hey Nintendo, did you know you have a virtual console in the eshop?" If you like RPG's I would recommend The Denpamen 2 highly at that price. It maybe quirky but its a full scale open world RPG with some darn good battles. I wouldn't buy it. Protomario explains why. Not to offend the NL staff, it's just that Protomario just takes in a lot of consideration a lot of things that any family would have trouble with and only does reviews when there is something that is bugging him and he needs to explain. He brings in the fact that it's too complicated for small children, yet too boring for older individuals. I'll sum up your weekly downloads in one word: @ss! if I get anything, this could be it. nothing this week.... Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
