What' s in the Box

Before you throw all the food you own into your new Proscenic T22 air-fryer, you're going to need to unbox it. In the box, you'll find: Proscenic T22 air-fryer Air-frying pan with removable grease tray Quick-start guide Instruction manual Recipe book All you need to do now is add food.

Looks Great In the Kitchen

The Proscenic T22 is an all-black unit. The high-luster, plastic chassis, gives the device a fairly stylish look (and one which I have yet to completely ruin with food stains or indelible finger marks), and the silver logo adds a touch of bling to proceedings. If, in fact, an air fryer brand logo could be considered bling in any way. Basically, it will look the part in your kitchen. However, it does have a fairly sizable footprint, with dimensions of 36.1 x 27.1 x 30.6 centimeters. So, you'll need to make sure you've got the real estate on your countertop to accommodate the T22. The power cable is quite short, too, at just one meter, so placement should be near a power outlet. It weighs 5.7kg with the tray inserted, so consider this if you will need to move the device around the kitchen. The top of the device houses a capacitive control panel. The control panel screen is also high-sheen, and the controls light up a brilliant white when the T22 is operational. You get the full range of controls on top of the device, including pre-programmed cooking functions, temperature adjustment, time adjustment, warm-up button, start/pause cooking, and the power button. The frying pan slots, via the front of the T22, into a chamber at the bottom of the fryer. The front of the frying pan has a silver-colored handle, with a quick-release thumb button on top to disengage the lock, which prevents you from accidentally removing the pan during cooking. With a total capacity of 5 liters, you have plenty of space to get your fry on. The back of the T22 carries the air vents, which expel any steam produced during cooking operations, and the power cable.

Infinitely Easy to Operate

3 Images The T22 is unbelievably easy to work with, so it makes cooking your fried food a cinch. Operating the device doesn't require much effort, particularly in view of the fact of the pre-programmed cooking functions, which will ensure your food is cooked at an optimal temperature and for the correct amount of time. However, if you prefer to throw caution to the wind and experiment with your own optimal cooking times and temperatures, then you can program the Proscenic T22 yourself. This is great, because, for example, not everyone likes their steak or burgers cooked the same. It also means you can experiment with your own recipes, rather than just using those in the recipe book. I mentioned the smart functions, which add extra layers of control to your cooking. You can use the Proscenic Home app (available for and ), which connects the T22 (and other Proscenic devices) to your smartphone. The benefit of using the app with your air fryer should be fairly obvious. You can prepare your meal before you head out to work, drop it in the air fryer, and then start cooking when you're almost home, using the app. The result? A hot meal the second you walk through the door. The app offers all the same functions as the control panel on top of the fryer. You can even hook your air fryer up to your voice assistant, so you can just tell your air fryer to start cooking your French fries or whatever culinary masterpiece you are creating. A simple "Alexa, cook fries," or "OK Google, cook chicken," and your recipe is mere minutes away from entering your mouth. In short, the T22 is incredibly simple to operate, and convenient too, thanks to the comprehensive app and voice control. But does the food taste any good?

Delicious Air-Fried Goodness

The Proscenic T22 cooks your meal by circulating hot air around the food. This means you don't need to dunk your ingredients in gallons of cooking oil to achieve fantastic results. It also means that air-frying is significantly healthier than the deep-frying alternative. If you're skeptical about whether your air-fried food will taste as good as its deep-fried counterparts, I can confidently say you needn't be. The Proscenic T22 produces delicious food, as I discovered when I tested it. I started off with a classic: fried chicken. I went for a simple recipe, using boneless chicken breast mini fillets, and coated them in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, and a little garlic powder. I then sprayed the fillets with low-calorie cooking spray, to keep the calorie intake as low as possible, along with a small spray on the inside of the cooking pan to prevent anything sticking to the pan walls during cooking. Once I had loaded the chicken into the pan, I set it off cooking with the "chicken" preset (denoted by a chicken drumstick icon on the T22 control panel). 20 minutes later, I could taste the result of my culinary efforts. I will admit now that it frankly amazed me how good my chicken tasted. Dare I say even the Colonel will be spinning in his grave like the proverbial drill bit, knowing my air-fried chicken is much better than his original recipe. We could forgive you for thinking that air-frying is going to result in really dry food. This is categorically not the case. In fact, the complete opposite is true. The food retains the majority of its moisture, so with my chicken example above, the outside was perfectly crunchy, while the chicken meat remained juicy, and didn't dry out at all. Potato wedges work a charm, too. With some simple seasoning with salt and pepper, and a quick spray of low-cal oil, you have the makings of a very tasty potato snack. The potato on the inside was fluffy, while the outside was crispy; just what you expect with an air fryer. I also tested some chicken wings with a similar coating, except this time I added cornflake crumbs and a little bit of whisked egg to hold the coating together. Again, I enjoyed delicious, juicy wings, with a fantastic, crispy coating on the outside. Finally, some pork shoulder steaks. These are very moist but can be dry if you cook them for too long. Again, I felt zero disappointment when, after a mere ten minutes, my pork came out of the air fryer and onto my plate. As with the chicken, the pork retained its juices, so was not in the least bit dry when I ate it. I only tried some basic recipes during testing, but I know that there is a lot more I can do with the Proscenic T22 air fryer, and it doesn't only limit you to air frying meat and potato products; you can cook a surprisingly massive range of food in the device. So, the food I prepared in the T22 was delicious, and I recommend everyone gives air frying a go, if fried food is your bag.

Go Forth and Air Fry

Convinced? You should be. As I said, if you are a fan of fried food, then this is a significantly healthier option. I would recommend the Proscenic T22 air fryer based on its cooking performance and smart functions, which means you can easily cook delicious food when you're not even standing in the kitchen. But to answer the all-important question of can you air fry cornflakes? Yes, you can, as long as you use them to coat your chicken wings!
