It will mark only the fourth time in seven games this season they’ve appeared together, and they’ll try to prevent Jackson from “putting on a show,” which he’s said the Ravens will do. Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney will collaborate to try to limit Lamar Jackson's production. “Absolutely, because he’s a top-five athlete but also a top-five quarterback,” Garrett said. “So he can really do it all, whether it’s through the air or with his feet. It’s that dynamic, especially with their running game, it’s tough to handle, there’s a lot of things you have to account for and you have to be able to play by certain rules to get the result that you’re looking for.” Simulating Jackson in practice is tough, although Joshua Dobbs gave it his best this week.“It’s a big challenge,” Garrett said. “You know him, (left tackle) Ronnie (Stanley) being back, them wanting to be a very physical team. Want to run the ball and try to play the game their way and that’s kinda the football that we kinda do in the AFC North. So they’re kinda leading it right now with their mentality and him able to run the ball as well. We’d like to be able to put that notch on our belt.” Read more:

Turner played just 42 games for the Pacers last season due to a stress reaction in his left foot. We both know we’re just competitors. It’s unknown how long Turner is expected to be sidelined with this injury. It’s just about who’s going to be able to execute and get each other out of each other’s game plan.” The two premier edge rushers, with Garrett ranked No. 1 overall by Pro Football Focus and Clowney No. More NBA Coverage:. 9, will have to bring their A game to sack or contain Jackson, a unicorn who leads the Ravens with 451 yards rushing and is third in the NFL with 13 TD passes. “Absolutely, because he’s a top-five athlete but also a top-five quarterback,” Garrett said. “So he can really do it all, whether it’s through the air or with his feet. It’s that dynamic, especially with their running game, it’s tough to handle, there’s a lot of things you have to account for and you have to be able to play by certain rules to get the result that you’re looking for. ” As for trying to get to bring him down, “you just can’t open up too many escape lanes for him, even if you feel like you’re rushing at the level, he’ll dip behind you. If you feel like you’re rushing and you don’t counter back quick enough, then he’s going to step up and go run the B gap. There’s a lot of ways that you have to work together, not just as a single rusher for myself or me and JD. “It’s all of us. All four of us are having to really create a net and trap this guy because he’s able to escape and scramble either way, and he’s not afraid to go upfield and run for 40, or stay behind the line and throw for 40, so you have to be able to keep it in the pocket. ” Simulating Jackson in practice is tough, although Joshua Dobbs gave it his best this week. “Dobbs is a pretty good look,” Garrett said. “He has speed and he can throw the ball, but Lamar is unique in his own right and what he can do and what he’s shown. He was MVP for a reason. This guy’s special. ” He acknowledged he has a little more juice facing a player like Jackson, who’s 5-3 against the Browns with 11 TDs, 6 INTs and a 96.9 passer rating. He’s also rushed for 511 yards, with a 6.08-yard average and four TDs. “It’s a big challenge,” Garrett said. We’d like to be able to put that notch on our belt.” Garrett understands the magnitude of the game, how the Browns — losers of three straight to fall to 2-4 - can pull ahead of the 3-3 Ravens with a victory, and even ahead of the 3-3 Bengals for first place in the AFC North this week. “Right now it’s the biggest game of the season, and that’s not only just because it’s the next one,” he said. “Right now, we have to get rolling. It’s a very crucial game for us and the next one (Halloween night against the Bengals) will be as well, but we have to focus on this one, a division matchup and going into leading the division if we win it. But right now it’s a tough task, we have our work cut out for us on defense. But I like the guys who we have in this room and who we’re going to put on the field. ” In addition to getting Clowney back, the Browns are ready to take newcomer Deion Jones for what the linebacker described as “a little spin” in his first game with the Browns since being acquired in a trade Oct. 10. “He has a lot of savvy from being in a different place,” Garrett said. “He’s learned different things, picked up a couple different things working with our defense but also having the experience and coaching that he has from other places, he’ll be able to fit in pretty easily, not only his coverage-wise and also to teaching some of that to some of the guys here with his experience. I think that’s invaluable to share his knowledge and pass on how he plays things and how he’s able to fly around and make plays as well. ” A 2017 Pro Bowler who started 83 of his 85 games in Atlanta, Jones brings some of the same veteran presence as Anthony Walker Jr., who’s out for the season with a torn quad tendon. “(He’s) a little bit more quiet,” he said. “I think that’ll take a little bit of an adjustment period getting to know guys, but as far as the leadership and confidence to call this and play it out and execute it, he’s up there.” Garrett said he believes the Browns defensive woes can be attributed some to commitment to extra work like John Johnson III stated, and some to young guys being shown the way, like Joel Bitonio said. “(But) nobody has time for either,” he said. “Nobody cares on Sunday, when our opponent shows up and has their helmets and pads on how young you are or if you’re a rookie or a sophomore. Nobody cares if you’re in position or out of position or if you worked on this or you saw this look. You have to be ready, you have to line up. “If you have a man, you’re supposed to be with him. If you have a zone, you’re supposed to relate to whoever’s in your zone. You have to be able to execute regardless of age or how many looks you’ve seen or if you’ve seen that exact look, you have to be able to make adjustments and play on the fly. “At the end of the day, you either execute or you don’t. That’s the way of the NFL, they’re always scheming, they’re always coming up with new things trying to exploit what they’ve seen from week to week, that’s what they get paid for. We’re paid to react and take the ball away. ” He acknowledged that there’s still upside potential for young guys like Jordan Elliott, Jacob Phillips, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Grant Delpit and others who are expected to make a big leap this season. “Those guys, to me, still have very high ceilings as far as athletically and really, what’s holding us back is, as I’ve said before, executing the calls, being where you’re supposed to,” he said. “If these guys are able to be where they’re supposed to be, I have no fear they’ll be able to perform their job at the highest level and be able to play or dominate against anyone. I think those guys are one or two plays from being very, very good, just have to take away those one or two plays that have been really taking us out of games or keeping games from being within striking distance.” He said playing hard isn’t the issue, even though everyone can always find a little more. “I’m never satisfied with effort,” he said. “I feel like you can always look back and see a play where you gave 80 or 90 instead of 100 (percent). Those plays, sometimes they come back to bite you and sometimes they don’t. It’s really just executing those plays and not allowing some of those big position-related incidents come back and get us, because right now effort, I don’t think it’s really the problem. I think guys are really trying hard and playing hard, but being where you’re supposed to be is really the problem. ” If all goes as planned, 3-4 is where the Browns are supposed to be on Sunday.
