A pedestrian was seriously hurt Thursday night when she was struck by an SUV while crossing a busy Midtown Anchorage intersection. The woman s injuries were considered life threatening Friday a police spokeswoman said hour agoA pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday night when she was struck by an SUV while crossing a busy Midtown Anchorage intersection.A Nissan Pathfinder traveling south on C Street was turning east onto Benson Boulevard around 8:18 p.m. when it struck a woman who had started walking south across Benson in the crosswalk, police spokeswoman Laura Holman said. The woman was brought to a hospital, and Holman described her injuries on Friday as life-threatening.The driver remained on scene and policesaidno charges had been filed. The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated.Five people have died so far this year after they were struck by vehicles while biking or walking in Anchorage, Holman said.
