Fremont vandalism suspect now facing destructive device charge A man already being prosecuted in a Fremont vandalism case has now been charged with possession of components of an explosive device. UPDATED:October 21, 2022 at 3:10 p.m.FREMONT — A man already being prosecuted in the deliberate cutting of telephone and fiber optic lines in Fremont residential neighborhoods has now been additionally charged with possession of components of a destructive device, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office said Friday. Roshan Patel, 46, of Fremont, was first arrested by Fremont police Sept. 28 after an investigation into the vandalism of the telephone and fiber optic lines that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage, authorities said.The cut wires resulted it outages to thousands of customers of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Comcast/Infinity. Fremont police said because of the vandalism, people could not access the internet or make phone calls, including to 911. The total damage was at least $300,000, police said. Read more:
