Jordan was shocked to learn that Magic was retiring and first thought it was a joke. Then after talking to him, Jordan understood that this was real and was okay with it. revealed that players at the time thought AIDS did not affect heterosexual people, showcasing the limited knowledge people had regarding the disease at the time. But when Magic came out with his announcement, it shocked him, with Jordan describing the feeling as a slap in the face. Jordan was then asked in an interview in 1992 with Playboy Magazine about life on the road for an NBA player. He then gave an unfiltered opinion, , “There are a lot of things being said about the opportunities you have on the road.
