Kunio kun The World Classics Collection Headed To Switch
Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection Headed To Switch Nintendo Life At least in Japan it is by Share: on If you are a bit of a Kunio-kun fan, then you'll be pleased that Arc System Works is going to be releasing Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection for the Switch next year. Here are the 11 classic Kunio-kun games which are on the compilation: Downtown Nekketsu Koshinkyoku Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball Bu Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu Nekketsu! Street Basket: Ganbare Dunk Heroes Nekketsu Koukou Dodge Ball Bu: Soccer Hen Bikkuri Nekketsu Shinkiroku: Harukanaru Kin Medal Kunio-kun no Nekketsu Soccer League Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey Bu Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari Downtown Special: Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki da yo Zen’in Shugo! In addition to all this, the collection will of also include , , , and - all Technos games that were released in the West but not in Japan. The games in the collection will have online multiplayer too, which is a great reason to pick up this bundle when it launches in 2018. There's no word on a release outside of Japan at present, but the region-free nature of Switch means this won't be an issue, as long as you're OK with wading through Japanese text. I think this is the greatest news I had all year. =') I imagine this will come to the West soon enough, hopefully with all the games. If it does then definitely picking it up! I rushed on here to see if you'd commented! Ferguson says, "BARF" I say I hope it gets localized.......I'd love a compilation of what are some of my favorite NES era games! I commented even before the post was posted.
Darren beat me to it reporting this one. I'll still pick this up, it's a low-key way to get a River City collection. This is one of the reasons to have a Japanese eShop account. Given the sheer import-friendliness of including the 5 English language games, if the price is right, I won't even bother waiting for news of a localisation - network play in River City Ransom alone is something I'd consider a worthwhile purchase due to how much time I've sunk into that game over the years. World Cup on NES was soooo good. With a surprisingly in-depth settings for the AI. All the games Westener would want from a Kunio-Kun collection are there in english. So no need to worry about a localization or not. I will pre-order this on Amazon Japan as soon as its up. PS: This is how you do a retro game collection Square-Enix, even if it's Japan only. If an english ROM exists, there's no need to NOT put it in the collection. This looks like a pretty amazing package... yet I am curious. Renegade seems to pop up quite a bit in relation to Kunio... but why not Target Renegade? That was incredible at the time, and was generally accepted to be superior to the original. I have no problem with the barrier, used to know a little bit of the language 15 years ago. If it ends up on a card and the price is right I'm game. The original renegade was a conversion of the first game in the Kunio-Kun series, so developed by Technos. All subsequent Renegade titles were developed by Ocean Software, who licensed out the name Renegade from Technos, so I doubt Arc System Works has the rights to re-release those games. Bring it west! HOLY MOLY? I didn't read those last 2 paragraphs, THAT'S AMAZING Wow! That is quite a list! I don't care if it gets translated. I'll buy it regardless, as I mostly play Kunio games on the Famicom anyway. Can't stop joy barfing. Day one. Great news indeed. Pretty sweet. Wow, this came out of no where ~ Fantastic news! I played some of these games on NES clone in the 90's and they were in Japanese (I didn't know English at all then, so this wasn't inconvenience for me), so even if we don't get localised version, I'll simply import.
Ah, I see! Thank you for that. That is a shame. I also remember that there was a Renegade 3, but I never played that one. Yohoo it even has NES Nintendo World Cup on that collection!!! This is a huge collection, hope it comes to the West on retail. Hello, I have an interesting question. This is indeed good game collection but I wonder why this collection doesn't include the four PC-Engine/CD versions of the games? Here are four games that are released for the PC-Engine/CD:
*Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu: PC Bangai Hen
*Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari
*Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundōkai
*Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu: CD Soccer Hen I like this compilation approach better than a slow bleed of $7.99/per digital download. Really cool. Now that's how you do a collection! only thing missing for me is the SNES titles from this series. Maybe Arc System Work could do second Kunio-kun game collection featuring the Super Famicom/SNES games. I'm picking this up in Japanese even if there's a chance I'll end up owning it twice. Love me some Kunio! Man, I would love this. Hopefully we'll get it. And the Mana collection. Day one Hopefully, but this collection is a good start for sure. I know, right!? I have so many good memories of that game. I need this! So happy the system is region free. Can't wait! All those games are the western versions of games that WERE released in Japan.
(the only confusing thing is that Taito published "Renegade", the western version of Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun (I think that's the name). But Taito also published another game with a similar name "Target: Renegade", which is not related to Kunio and was not released in Japan.) Now that I think about it, the one interesting thing might be whether it supports the save function in Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari. The game originally used a third-party memory card-like device called the ASCII Turbo File to save, and was one of only a couple games to support the device that weren't made by ASCII (Enterbrain) themselves. Third good news on switch for me since Zelda BOTW and Mario O announcements... But it may not be adapted for the West ?
Oh well... As much as I'd love to play on my switch, I guess I'll simply go back to my PS4 where there is real good Japanese games to fulfill my needs Wow, that's quite the impressive bundle. This would be an instant day 1 buy for me if it ever got a western release. The language barrier is what is stopping me from getting the japanese release. I'm hoping this gets a physical release as well like the 3DS games.
I'll import it immediately then.
Glad to see Kunio-kun no Nekketsu Soccer League on there as well as it's one of the very few soccer games that I've actually enjoyed over the years.
i had a feeling this collection was gonna happen...but wheres shin nekketsu koha kunio tachi no banka?
i wonder if it has something to do with the text... No clue, it's a shame they are leaving all the 16-bit games out, some true gems on those.
shodai nekketsu kouha kunio kun is in this collection, that was sfc Oh my, I didn't realize there was a SFC game in there! This just keeps getting better by the day. For those following at home: This is in the compilation This is sadly not:
i wish the other sfc game was in the collection then i believe all the beat em ups would be there besides the 2 3ds games and the one still to come to 3ds...i love the series myself And not to forget the only game in the series that jumped to the Megadrive and the only true 16-bit version ever of Kunio soccer.
im hoping this indeed gets a western release. i really hoped no banka was on here, but this is very good news. like huge to me really. This and "Secret of Mana Collection". Get to work, localizations teams!
then theres super dodge ball for neo geo and pce lol PC Engine (even with CD) is still technically 8-bit. Neo Geo is just 16 bit overkill.
lol Gotta love that the Switch is region free.
did you play river city super sports challenge all stars special for ps3 and river city melee battle royal special for ps4?
im thinking about getting those...and im sure you know rival showdown is fixing to be out Sadly those are about the only Kunio games I never played.... T_T Put them on the Switch!!!!!!
thats what i was wondering too Not sure if you managed to play River City Melee on PS4 yet, but I recently got a physical copy (thank you Limited Run Games) and played it tonight with the fellows from work and I will say the game is an absolute gem. Anyone who's a fan of the Kunio-kun games need to have that game.
its very funny you mentioned that, as i was just thinking about that game literally 5 minutes ago. i havent got chance to play it yet but i will. i was also sitting here hoping they release this collection in english. You and I both my friend. Especially after playing River City Melee I want to play the other Kunio-kun games as the only ones I have played are the NES games besides Melee.
i need to finish getting all the games. this collection is the way im gonna do that. Retail for me. But I'd like them to explain if they're going to be arcade versions (if available) or NES/Famicom only. Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
