Scratch That Metroidvania Itch As Quirky RPG Feudal Alloy Heads For Switch Nintendo Life Because even fish deserve to be heroes by Share: Ever wanted to swing a sword as fish in a robot suit? Well, we're going to make your day right here and now with news that side-scrolling RPG will be making its way to Nintendo Switch. This 2D RPG - which casts you in the metal boots of Attu, a medieval-style robot with a fishbowl for a head - embraces that classic, Metroidvania open-ended level design and fills it with bosses, side-quests and all manner of items to help customise your plucky robo farmer-turned-hero. on It's being made by Czech indie studio Attu Games and will feature a, "dynamic action-combat system with swords, grenades, dodges and other special attack moves." So expect plenty of action when it slices and dices its way onto Nintendo Switch in Q3 2018. What do you guys make of Feudal Alloy's cartoon style and Metriodvania mechanics? Yay or nay? Let us know in the comments! [source ] Share: Comments ) Do people still have a Metroidvania itch? That's a long time you expect us to be itchy. Looks decent. My Metroidvania itch has been turned into an infected open wound from all the scratching I've been doing since the Wii U. There's another one on the way next week called Nightmare Boy, just spotted it on the Eshop. Feels like the Metroidvania is oversatured at this point, so that "itch" is pretty much gone. Still excited for Hollow Knight, though! I'd say so. For me personally I'd love to see more metroidvania games branch away from slavishly aping Super Metroid. Games like Hollow Knight and Ori stand out to me while games like Axiom Verge and Xeodrifter feel derivative imo Wow, this looks great! And is that a stamina bar I see? Sold. "Ever wanted to swing sword as fish or fly as bird. Me not need no good words." lol I love the graphics, but I can’t say I’m the biggest Metroidvania fan. Always. ALWAYS. It doesn't look like Castlevania or Metroid is going to keep providing those play experiences, so hats off to the developers who continue to refine the style. If developers keep making them, I'll certainly keep buying them. It's never enough. It definitely has got my attention will most likely give it . - Didn't you know? Metroid is still dead. Looks cool. The animation and backgrounds look very nice. More Metroidvania style games are welcome. But I do have my plate full right now with Metroid: Samus Returns, Axiom Verge and The Mummy Demastered. And Bloodstained is on it's way...*gasp Looks promising! yeah, R.I.P. Metroid...such a shame he died before learning how to crawl though... - Shame he couldn't crawl though. Guess even robots have flaws. Still waiting for Hollow Knight It's better than the phrase 'Castleroid', I guess Yeah I mean it's not like we have been lacking in that category besides actual Castlevania or Metroid games lol. Interesting, why I haven't heard of this before?
It's along the lines of this game idea I had for a while. Love the art style! Very interesting game, the graphic art style looks like they got pull off from a 90s Nickelodeon kids cartoon.
I'm interested. Looks like it could be a fun game. Of course I'll wait for reviews first. I'm right there with you. Every time I see a list of best Metroidvanias that includes Super Metroid, I want to scream. SOTN and its follow ups were dubbed MVs because they altered the traditional Castlevania structure by borrowing from Metroid. Now any game with backtracking and item or power-gated areas gets the label. I'll have to remember to refer to the genre as castleroid from now on. Doesn't look bad.
