Texas Republicans at the top of the ticket have widened their leads over Democratic challengers into the double digits, according to a new poll released just days before early voting begins in the midterms. The findings are consistent with increasing GOP leads found in other recent survey IN-DEPTH:Wreckage from Beto O'Rourke's failed presidential campaign could cost him the Texas governor's raceRepublican incumbents holding statewide offices held double-digit leads over Democratic challengers among likely voters, the poll found. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick led Mike Collier 51-36; Attorney General Ken Paxton was up 51-37 over Rochelle Garza; Comptroller Glenn Hegar led Janet Dudding 47 to 35; Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller was up 51-39 over Susan Hayes.The survey of 883 likely voters polled between Oct. 7-17 carried a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
