Probably my grandparents, who are the chicest people alive. They have always had the most impeccable and special taste, and I'm convinced they are the reason I have such a big love for beautiful things. What inspires me now more than ever is how they care for their things, no matter if it's a cashmere sweater or something in their home. Everything lasts them forever because of how they treat the things they love, and it's something you don't see much nowadays. How involved were you in the design process? Anine and I started working on the designs together from scratch. Our first meetings were over Zoom, and we pulled tons of inspiration from vintage pieces and slowly got to the design for the pieces that are now launching. These days, many are leaning toward keeping a more edited wardrobe of essentials. Do you think this should translate to jewelry? I'm so glad more and more people understand that less is more when you have the right pieces in your wardrobe that work together, and clothes should be worn again and again and again all the time. Years ago, people started telling me they thought it was boring that I was always wearing so many pieces on repeat and would post these repetitive outfits on Instagram, but I never understood what was boring about it. For me, it's the ultimate inspiration when people love the pieces they own and take care of them for years to come and play around with combining them in different ways. I think it's similar when it comes to jewelry. Of course, I have a few pieces that I got from family members or through my work that I will keep and cherish forever. But when I decide to bring something new into my home, no matter if it's jewelry, clothes, or furniture, I want to make sure it's a piece I will love and wear for a long time. Courtesy of Anine Bing What are five staples in your wardrobe? My most-worn pieces in my closet are my knits. I grew up in Germany and having good sweaters was key all year round. The black and gray Rosie Sweater from Anine Bing has been my favorite for years. I keep two in my home in Germany and two in New York, because I truly cannot live without them. Apart from that, definitely two pairs of vintage Levi's jeans, one oversized and one more fitted; vintage slacks; and one perfect blazer that goes with everything. Can you name three different looks with which you would style this jewelry? What I love about chunkier pieces of jewelry is that you can dress them down so well. I never thought I would be able to work on making my own clothes or jewelry, so it truly is a very crazy feeling. I think this one feels extra special, because Anine is someone I've looked up to for a long time, and getting to work together with her makes me realize I've come a long way since I met her for the first time when I was 20 and not sure what I wanted to do with my life.
