The collection now includes 25 different headsets that are compatible with the system – and because Fortnite has its own in-game voice chat functionality on the Switch, this replaces the need for players to use Nintendo’s mobile voice chat app to communicate with their squad. Raziel-chan it seems like a no brainer to me to do it all in game and in system, unless the games intended to only ever be played with known friends and even then I’d suggest in game is more flexible and will accomodate more users. Headsets with a line in are readily available where a lot of Nintendo’s market won’t own a smartphone. For anything with a public lobby it’s also much more convinient. I’m shocked the Switch supported line in actually after Nintendo didn’t use it with their own implementation. People can use other mobile apps anyway if they want to chat over a seperate mobile device. Those things have a huge impact on your ability to win in Battle Royale games. the special chat headset isn't required, it's just one option In fact the app is actually good for one thing, most people have a phone, while not everyone has a headset, so people without a headset can use the app

I would like to buy a decent head set but it would need to be wireless be that with a bluetooth dongle in the audio jack or Bluetooth direct to the Switch or via USB.
It will need to work in both docked and portable mode and it needs to support chat and audio.

Sure, I got my money back, but the headphone market is still very confusing, in my opinion. I’m glad that I finally found a seemingly good headset that I’m planning on buying soon (the Turtle Beach Recon 320).

Surely it must be clear to Nintendo that it has to abandon its ridiculous app for voice chat and simply put it on the Switch where it should have been in the first place. I’ve been using a Turtle Beach headset for a long time, and I personally haven’t had any problems with the sound quality. That's only because you haven't tried high end audio equipment, or even mid tier which cost less than Turtle Beach but have better quality. It's like Beats headphones, they are overpriced compared to the audio quality they offer.
If they were half the price they currently are they wouldn't be so bad, but with "Gamer" applied they are too much for what they offer.
There are some good headsets from lower end to high end, Corsair Void, astro A40s and A50s, Steelseries Arctis Pro+ gaming dac to name a few.
I've tried 6 different Turtle Beach headsets and they all had terrible audio quality vs the price they cost. They're trying to make it sound like their products are something special.

I don’t design the headsets, I just write about them I actually should try one before judging them... Just my past experience with headphones/head sets showed, that it actually makes little difference... When I started with online gaming, I used my Walkman headphones plus an additional microphone and guess what, it worked
But maybe todays ears are more sensitive It’s these damn kids and their rock & roll, they’ve blown their eardrums out (in my case, literally - I neglected to wear earplugs in the snake pit at a Metallica concert)... I did this several times already, not only at Metallica also during our own rehearsals, we sometimes "forgot" to wear ear plugs... Or during our gigs... But I got more sensitive on that topic!
