Music Notebook: Rob Shinno & Hemisphere at Humphreys, Blacktronika Festival at UCSD; Joshua White at Dizzy's The richness and diversity of San Diego's music scene will be showcased at Humphreys, Dizzy's and a free festival at UCSD Shinno and his four-man group will be joined by no fewer than six guests artists, including Fattburger/Luis Miguel percussionist Tommy Aros, trumpeter Paul Seaforth, saxophonist Chris Klich and singers Leonard Patton, Janice Edwards and Janet Hammer.The fourth album by Shinno and Hemisphere, “Unity” is the second part of a trilogy due for completion in 2024. The band’s most accomplished album to date, it smoothly fuses a variety of influences, from Joe Jackson, Chicago and Steely Dan to Michael Franks, James Taylor and Earth, Wind & Fire. Apart from a brassy remake of David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel,” the focus is on Shinno and his band’s original compositions. Read more:
