The US women’s gymnastics team almost had a flawless execution on the opening day of the tournament. The team is currently at top of the scoring sheet with a total of 167.263 points. But in the absence of their top contenders – Simone Biles and Suni Lee, will the US Team claim the medals? With both and out of the elite-level competition, the team’s hope turned towards 2020 Olympics’ floor champion Jade Carey and world championship debutant Shilese Jones. According to the scoresheet by , Jones was the star performer for her team. She, ended up at the top position in the women’s all-around category while claiming the second spot in uneven bars and balance beam. Similar to Jones, veteran gymnast Jade Carey is currently leading in the Vault category and is sitting in the second position in the women’s all-around and floor exercises.
