Ultimate Pays Tribute To GameCube Classic Melee With Limited-Time Tournament Nintendo Life A blast from the past by Share: If there's one classic Nintendo game a lot of people are still playing on a regular basis, it's the 2001 title on the GameCube. It took the series to new heights, thanks to its faster and frantic gameplay and featured more characters and modes than its predecessor. To this day, it's still a hit at major tournaments. Now, to kick-off the weekly events this year in , Nintendo is paying tribute to Melee with a special tournament. It starts today and will run until 6th January, and will only include fighters, stages, and items from the GameCube release. Here's the ruleset: Format: Smash

Items: Smash Ball, Poké Ball, Container, Food, Maxim Tomato, Heart Container, Super Mushroom, Poison Mushroom, Super Star, Warp Star, Metal Box, Bunny Hood, Beam Sword, Star Rod, Home-Run Bat, Hammer, Lip’s Stick, Ray Gun, Fire Flower, Super Scope, Bob-omb, Motion-Sensor Bomb, Green Shell, Freezie, and Mr. Saturn.
