Pok émon Trading Card Game Battle Academy Wins 'Toy Of The Year' Award Nintendo Life Beating the very best, like no toy ever has by Share: Image: We've witnessed some shameful antics lately regarding the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It's made the news due to targeting , a statement we never expected to write. Whilst fans wait on The Pokémon Company to , we've got slightly better news to report: it has won big at the recent Toy Of The Year Awards. Run by , Game of the Year was presented to Pokémon TCG Battle Academy, which offered a beginner-friendly board game adaptation last June. Featuring three pre-made decks based around Charizard, Pikachu, and Mewtwo, Battle Academy generally reviewed well amongst players. Speaking in a press release, Barry Sams, Vice President of Pokémon TCG at The Pokémon Company, stated: The Pokémon TCG is a cornerstone of the brand, and with Battle Academy, our mission is to give families a fun and accessible way to spend quality time together. We are thrilled that Battle Academy has been recognized for these efforts, and it’s rewarding to see so many kids bonding with parents over their love of Pokémon TCG cards. I like how no one is here and everyone is just talking about the direct My mom got it for me and my brother, and we didn't really use the step by step instructions but we do use the decks so we have fair and balanced decks because I have better cards great for teaching new players and younger kids. and the board is great I considered getting this, but since I already play the TCG it seemed a bit junior for me. It looks cool though. I'd really like to see more actual pokemon boardgames. The Pokemon Master Trainer game was great and I'd love to see more of those. I want a new Pokemon TCG video game. I'd play the hell out of that. I just don't do physical TCGs anymore. Deserved. After years of trying to get back to the pokémon tcg but being unsure where to begin with I bought the battle academy and now it got me and three of my friends back into collecting cards and batteling each other. the playing mat and the big flip coin included in it are worth it imo. Its the only mat me and my friends use now. Really pleased to see this! I've never gotten into the card trading game aspect of Pokemon, but my 6 year old daughter showed interest, and so I bought this for us to both learn this Christmas and it's a really well done.. thing. We both know the basics now and have forked out for another blister pack already. Good times. It's honestly a great price for what you get. And with premade decks, it would be a fun way to play without worrying about having to invest in increasingly more powerful and expensive cards to keep up. It makes it more like a board game, in a way. I always struggle learning TCG rules. I may pick this up as it sounds like a fun way to learn. If I had a Magic the Gathering board game like this when I first tried to learn MtG, the rules and flow of gameplay might have clicked in my noggin. Got this for my son for Christmas. He’s been collecting cards for about a year but never really knew how to play (neither did I). This made it very easy & came with some really cool stuff too.
