Also, several hours of your life by Share: on As the top Steam review of town-building toy Townscaper says, "bloop bloop game make depression go away". Indie developer Oskar Stålberg first made Townscaper as an experimental thing, as he added new features. Its instantly likeable style and the clever design made it a hit, gaining Stålberg over 90,000 followers as he shared progress. Eventually, with the help of Raw Fury, he brought the game to Steam, where it has almost 8,000 user reviews and an "overwhelmingly positive" rating despite being in Early Access still. So, perhaps you can understand our excitement to find out that the joyfully peaceful little toybox is coming to Switch in Summer 2021. Raw Fury says that the game has "no goals or story beyond what you make yourself - just lots of building and beauty" - which sounds right up our street. In fact, we're looking forward to building that street. You can see the towns that other people have made with the , if you fancy some inspiration ahead of the release. Are you into bloop bloop game? Then I read that it is published by the same people, Raw Fury, and now it makes sense. This looks incredibly satisfying. Can't wait for the Switch release I was hypnotised by videos of this, but I knew that it's not for me. Fascinating tech and a cute style, but ultimately all you're doing is sticking houses next to other houses.
"No goals or story beyond what you make yourself" - you could say that about things like Minecraft, which have emergent gameplay; here there's no goals or story to be made at all. It's a very enjoyable, relaxing little experience, definitely worth what I paid for it on Steam, though I'm in no rush to play more. Looks like something I'd spend a few minutes on to kill time and less like something I'd pay for. That being said it does look relaxing. Mite be worth it for those lovely sound effects but not really sure it’s a game for me. Is there any goal at all. Looks like a level editor xxx The only use I can see for this is designing a town or city map for D&D or another TTRPG. Ummm...
I like the graphics, sound effects and the UI seems snappy
But... what's the point of building?
Will people move in?
Do you have a limiting set of space or tools?
The whole no goals is kinda weird/pointless to me.
It doesn't have to be as taxing as planning it out to be "optimal" but I do need some sort of "reason" to build This looks fun! It feels like it could have been made into a puzzle game of sorts but I’m down for some aimless street designing. Not everything needs a purpose. This looks like a great way to unwind! I had JUUUuuUUst enough money in my steam wallet to buy it too! Looking forward to giving this one a try! Is this just town building for the sake of art? I have this on Steam. I love it, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's not really a game. You just design a town, admire it while changing lighting and stuff, maybe snap some screenshots, then do it all again. I think it's cool how the game's algorithms determine how to combine and shape buildings as you put them down near each other, and the art style is fantastic. There's even a few special things to figure out as you learn the mechanics and play around with starting your towns on different parts of the map grid. But again, there's no gameplay whatsoever, just designing. I'll probably double-dip, haha. This looks very pretty and fun to mess around with, but I need to have goals to stay interested in a game so it's not for me. I have no idea what I'm seeing here but it was fun to watch.
