Despite being hopeful of ending the season on high, after a brilliant performance in Mexico, the luck went out of favor for the Australian yet again. However, this time it’s not sure if it’s luck that hurt him or a shortcoming from McLaren as fans react to it. The Aussie was looking for one more rare Q1 appearance this week until a statement from the team killed his chances. Ricciardo, who completed 9 laps, the same as his teammate Lando Norris, was therefore short of another lap.

Fans got furious as the Daniel Ricciardo fuel issue got surfaced on the internet

As the news of having low fuel or less time surfaced on the internet, fans gave McLaren a hard time on social media. The fans argued that one more lap could have brought back to Q1, where he belonged back in his prime days. Given below are some of the reactions taken from the Twitter: Fuel? Really? Daniel Ricciardo is too good, a true gentleman so he won't tell you what you deserve but I do, you suck McLaren. — Susannah’s Republik (@SussyRepublik) don’t forget the fuel babes ? — ece (@ricciardopics) No fuel?! ffs — Stiv (@StefanRadu_) Im hearing reports that did not have enough fuel for a last minute lap resulting in him not getting into Q3 — Kevin Thomson (@Kev_Thom17) Despite the fans’ reactions, the former Red Bull star has completed enough laps as that of the five qualified drivers for Q1, while the other five drivers completed 10 laps. McLaren: *spins wheel of ways to ruin Daniel Ricciardo's quali* McLaren: *squints* Ah, a new one. Don't put enough fuel in the car… Genius… ?‍?‍?‍ — Hannah (@hanlouise_13) Pour Daniel encore — Hugo (@HugoGreugny) OUT OF FUEL?!? Jesus Christ ‍?‍ — l y d i a (@live_laugh_lyds) It doesn't make sense ?
No fuel…????? — 오쪼쪼나의큰댄리 (@mybigboyDaniel) However, another section of fans argued that the Papaya team couldn’t help much with this. As the rain was incoming, everyone got slow. Even though Ricciardo would’ve wanted to go for one flying lap, it wouldn’t have mattered because the track was wet. Nobody was getting faster at this time. Daniel would also have not go faster. It was to wet — landonorris_mclaren_f1 (@Annamar19663055) ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad tfw rain is mclaren's fault — izan efe 11.1 WCC (@izanpuntoefe) It’s not sure if having another go would’ve taken Honey Badger to the Q1. A try would have been worth it if the track was dry. ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad WATCH THIS STORY: Where do you think Daniel Ricciardo would have ended up without the fuel issue?
