It's a gyroid guideroid! by Share: Image: Nintendo Life Gyroids are BACK, baby — and for people who've played games before, we've already experienced all the emotions that gyroids make us feel. First, confusion: What do they do? Then, horror: Why are they buried? Then, curiosity: Let's put one in my house, followed swiftly by amusement (or horror again) when they start making noises. But for anyone who's new to , you might have a few questions about how to get these weird little guys into your life! It's a little more complicated than it used to be, so even if you're a die-hard AC fan, you might still find new information in here, too. And naturally, we've got a full gyroid list as well...

What do gyroids do

Image: Nintendo Life Gyroids are singing, dancing statues. Their noise and appearance depend on what type of gyroid you have, and they've even been revamped for New Horizons — they were pretty creepy and similar-looking in , but now they're quite cute. All their names are a rough description of the noise they make, like "boioing" and "twang", with "oid" at the end. They will also sync up with any music you have playing nearby, so you can have a whole gyroid choir in your house or outside, dancing and singing along in tune with ! Here's an example with a "Squeakoid": - Leafie (@Leafiedraws)

Where do you find gyroids

on There are two ways to get gyroids. Gyroids can sometimes be found on your island buried in the ground, like fossils — they'll appear as little star-shaped holes ready for you to dig up. However, they only appear on your island if it rained the day before. If the weather was dry yesterday, you'll have to go on , which take you to all-new islands with all-new stuff to find, and that includes gyroids! This time, though, you won't get a whole gyroid. You'll dig up a gyroid fragment, but fear not — that's all you need to get yourself a new singing buddy for your home. We'll get to that in a bit! You can only go on one boat tour a day, so make sure to dig up all the spots on the island! Following the release of update version 2.0.4, that gyroid fragments may wash up on your island shoreline, too.

What do I do with gyroid fragments

Image: Nintendo Life This bit's easy: just dig a hole on your island, bury the fragment, and water it. It'll start steaming if you've done it right — try not to think too much about what that means. You'll have a fully-grown gyroid the next day! You can put gyroids down on the ground, on tables, and basically anywhere you could put a lamp,, for example. You can even decorate with gyroid fragments, if you like their "freshly excavated" look. You can sell them too, but they're not worth much.

Are there Nook Miles rewards for gyroids

Image: Nintendo Life You bet! There's a 300 Mile reward for finding your first one (you'll also get the titles "Rain-Soaked" and "Gyroid"), and then you'll be aiming for the three levels of "Gyroid Getter". The first level is 5 gyroids ("Distinctive" and "Curator" titles), the second is 15 gyroids ("Whimsical" and "Statue"), and the third is 20 gyroids ("Novel" and "Symbol").

Comments ) My hormones must be messed up as I find Gyroids bland (gets coat) (leaves) Of the 5 I got so far, 3 were the same. I hope that's just really bad luck on my part and that there's plenty of these little things out there to find. gyroids bring me joyroid I quite love what they did with them in this game. I wasn't too ecstatic at first but now I'm pretty eager to find many and... probably keep too many in my home or something. They changed up the Gyroid formula this time and made them smaller and, imo, more charming. So glad they made this decision because they are sooo cute. It was kind of annoying before how they would take up one whole furniture space. Must admit to not really bothering about Gyroid's in New Leaf, but like these ones much better, have two and am growing a third. I was a bit meh about the old, huge, kind of same-y gyroids but I adore the new ones. They beat in time to your music and can be coloured as you want. It's also neat that they have their own shelves when you put them on the wall. I actually do like them now. After I filled one room in the museum in NL I just stopped collecting them, but seeing as you can place them outdoors and even hang them on a wall, I'll actually use them now. Minor, slight complaint though (a personal "me" issue)...really wish you didn't have to water them. Don't think I've even owned a watering can in my current island as I just can't be bothered to water things. Got lucky yesterday as it was raining lol. So I swear I buried a gyroid yesterday but today it came out a fossil. Can that happen? Or did I drink too much? I just dug one up on my island and hadn’t planted one there, so that’s interesting… They also show up after it rains! I liked the old clunky big ones, but I can fit so many more of these in my houses, so I guess it’s a fair trade. And being able to actually set them on top of furniture is a massive improvement. I’ve dug up two today, plus the two that grew from fragments AND they’ve all been different ones, so feel my luck is in at the moment! Still nothing new in Nook’s Cranny… The new ones are ok but I miss the old ones! It won’t be the same without dekkoids and freakoids IMO.
