Dragon Quest Manga's Video Game Adaptation Gets Simultaneous Global Release Nintendo Life

Infinitely amazing by Share: on Who wants another Square Enix announcement? Back in 2020, the company revealed a brand new Dragon Quest spin-off game based on the manga and anime Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. Two years later, we now know that the game — developed by Game Studio and Kai Graphics — is coming to Switch in a simultaneous worldwide release. No specific date has been announced for yet, but we'll be getting more information during the Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off later tonight. On 18th September at 12:45pm JST (that's a very early 4:45am in the UK, or 11:45pm EST) we'll get a glimpse at the “Temple of Recollection” and “Memento Bonds” (thanks !). Sporting gorgeous cell-shaded visuals and Akira Toriyama's signature art style, the game should keep fans happy (alongside December's ) until we get more info on the elusive Dragon Quest XII. Have you read or watched Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai? Are you excited to try the game out? Tell us down below! [source ] Share: About RPG lover first and Nintendo fan second, Alana is often found overthinking battle strategies, characters, and stories. Fortunately, she’s also easily pleased by anything Yoshi-related, creepy-but-cute Pokémon, and SEGA air pirates. Comments ) An adaption of a game turned into a game....bit of a mouthful but alright. Looks nice enough I suppose. Everything except Dragon Quest X ofline it seems.. lesigh.. Oh Snap! This is better news than I had hoped! Figured it would be Japan only. I’m behind on eps though. Haven’t seen past 90. Granted I read the manga so I know what happens. It’s more Toriyama esque artstyle since the manga was drawn by Koji Inada. And the show and game are based on that manga. I have always liked Inada’s style as it softens and slightly fixes proportions of characters unlike Toriyama whose artstyle I don’t like (despite being a DQ nerd). I enjoyed the manga right up until the dark lord became complete. And then it descended into pure shonen absurdity. Was wondering what happened with this game A videogame adaptation of an anime adaptation of a manga adaptation of a videogame. That went full circle I am not so sure about this. Seems to be too dramatic and serious for my taste. I did not really feel the good Dragon Quest vibes.
Seems like Square really wants me to let them go I guess. Very cool! Hope it's good! Need more DQ in my life. Dai is a fantastic hero, Dai is not like other heroes. He had a purpose and an identity. I could see him replace the Dragon Quest Hero in the next Super Smash Bros. game. Can't wait to see this localize in the west soon, also love the manga btw. Yessss I was hoping to see more about this one! Let's hope we have a denifitive release date, I want this game very badly. SE is on fire!! Hope you can play as crocodine Looks fantastic to me. A bit nervous for a DQ title for the sheer length of it, but it’s such a good franchise. This actually looks really good. Great visuals, engaging looking gameplay, and they got all the original voice actors from the recent anime to top it off. I didn't expect that as I thought it would end up similar to Made in Abyss in quality level. Now, I'm wondering if it's going to follow the anime completely from beginning to end, or will just stop at a certain point. I'll keep an eye on it and find out after it's released. Kinda like Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game Whats with these nonsensical titles? Infinity Strash? Its like Korengrish of old All your base are belong to mine Well some of the monster designs are Toriyama, but its Koji Inada that is the real artist of Dai. I enjoy his style. Well this is an instant purchase for me. <3 It's a game based on an anime which is based on a manga that was based from a game franchise. Totally different situation here. Always glad to see some of the more lesser known Shonen Jump series get some time in the spotlight. I'll be looking forward to this game. Doubtful. Even though this manga is based on "Dragon Quest", Dai is 100% a Shonen Jump character, which is why he was playable in "Jump Force". So it's highly unlikely he, much like Goku, will ever get into Smash. What is this, a Dragon Quest protagonist with a personality?!? Love the art direction here. Moreover, I LOVE that they decided to do a spinoff to do the Action RPG genre instead of doing what FF did and turn their back on old school turn based combat. There is no reason the two can't both find room in the IP. I'm not a huge action rpg fan, but this looks like it should be accessible. The FF system didn't really click with me. the naming is deliberate and is explained in universe. Avan Strash which is the strongest technique of the Avan-Style is broken into two types Arrow and Break and is a combo of air, earth and wave slash techniques. The term is a combo of strike/slash or strike/crash depending on the version used. It also visually looks like the combo it comes from. Dai and other dragon knights technically can add a spell to their sword to boost the attack such as Giga Strash or Zap Strash. I like the look of this but I'm confused on what this game is trying to be: Is it a warriors game with a Dai skin? Is a Jump Force style game with Dai characters? Is it a retelling of the story DBZ Kakarot style? If it's any of the 3 mentioned then I'm sorry to say I have no interest in this as much as I love Dai as a series. Or the already localised Heroes games. more like the last one. It’s an action rpg. Come on buy it for Dino and Soala. I might consider it then. Do you have any recent examples that it may be similar to? it’s a bit of a mix of styles because there are overworld parts with party members where you just hack and slash and use magic (not as much as say a warriors game). But the boss battles seem to be more arena one on one based to mimic the over the top action of the series. Because there are so few trailers I’m hesitant to say too much because, watch the game prove me wrong, but you seem to select quests on the map and they take you to that quest hub. I’m not sure if you spend all your time in the overworld or if it is mission/npc based. But it still seems to be a mostly standard action rpg following the current anime. I've really, really enjoyed watching this show... probably more than my kids haha - can't wait. Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
