Marvel unloaded a lot of information about the future of the MCU at SDCC, including that the Black Widow prequel will be kicking off Phase 4. via NDTV Gadgets Marvel certainly unloaded a lot of information on us in regard to phase four of the , including that the promised Black Widow prequel will be kicking things off. Despite Avengers: Endgame sort of being the end of the MCU as we know it, we didn't have long to wait for the very next chapter. That came in the form of Spider-Man: Far From Home, and popped a neat little bow on top of what was the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fear not, though, comic book fans, as phase four is coming. The trouble is that up until about 24 hours ago, we had little more than conjecture and hearsay to go off of when it came to knowing what to expect. We knew there would be a new Guardians of the Galaxy and probably more Black Panther and Captain Marvel movies, but Marvel was being very coy when it came to giving us anything concrete. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY That was until this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel has now revealed a number of details about where the MCU is headed next, and the first step forward will actually be a step backward of sorts. The next installment in the MCU will be Black Widow, a prequel set directly after the events of Captain America: Civil War. via Full Circle Cinema As expected, the movie (which is already in production) will go into further detail about Natasha Romanov's past. However, it won't delve as far back as we thought - just as far as when she and Captain America were on the run, only to return and realign with the rest of the Avengers for the events of Infinity War and Endgame. The movie's villain was also revealed, Taskmaster, someone Spidey fans will likely be familiar with. Sadly, for fans hoping that the movie would revolve around Romanov's resurrection, it appears that you might be out of luck. Once the excitement of all of these MCU revelations had subsided, we quickly realized how long a wait we have on our hands until phase four begins. Black Widow is slated to be released on May 1, 2020. After that, the MCU's planned movies and TV shows will come at us thick and fast. Until then, we'll be keeping ourselves busy by reliving phases one through three.
