PS5 Resident Evil VIIIage Is Real And THAT Character Returns

Resident Evil VIIIage is now a real thing, and the trailer showed an old protagonist making a return. Resident Evil VIII, known as Resident Evil VIIIage, is now a real thing. Rumors have been foretelling it (), and the actual reveal matched them almost exactly. The game was unveiled with a trailer during Sony's PS5 event, showcasing a creepy village in wintery woods. The game seems to continue from where Resident Evil VII left, both in story and gameplay. Ethan Winters is the protagonist again, and we see through his first-person view. The action-focused gameplay of gunning down zombies seems to be gone in favor of slower, survival-horror emphasis. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY UPDATE: After the PS5 event, Capcom sent out a press release with more information. It seems Ethan Winters and his wife are looking to escape the events of Resident Evil VII. They move to a new home to get away from it all, only for Chris Redfield to show up and make things spooky again. Now Ethan must go back into the first-person horror to uncover the secrets of his new terror. The poor village will also be thrust into this new nightmare, giving the game its title. (They must be proud of the pun.) Capcom also claims that this new entry will "channel the capabilities of next generation consoles" to deliver more realism and fear. What that entails, we're not sure. It's probably referring to the more detailed environments and character renders. Capcom also clarifies that Resident Evil VIIIage is also releasing on Xbox Series X and Steam. The PS5 event was full of announcements from big franchises and hopeful new indie hits. It also spanned genres, tackling horror like Resident Evil, RPGs like Demon's Souls, and platformers like . There was also something odd going on with the real-life presenters... like . Overall, though, it was a solid kickoff to Sony's next-gen plans. Not much else is known at this time, other than Resident Evil VIII is coming to PS5 in 2021. Hopefully that means around March and not Holiday 2021. Resident Evil fans can't be kept waiting too long.
