Kao the Kangaroo Is Hopping Back Into The Spotlight With New Game

In very surprising news, a new game starring Kao the Kangaroo is on the way. In one of the more unexpected news items this week, platformer hero Kao the Kangaroo is returning with his first new game in over 15 years. Players may fondly remember platformers like Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and Croc. Unfortunately, some of these mascot-type franchises have laid dormant for many years, never making it big. (Anyone remember Blinx: The Time Sweeper?) One of these platformer animal heroes is Kao the Kangaroo. Developed by Polish studio Tate Interactive, Kao the Kangaroo is a 3D platformer series with similarities to Crash Bandicoot. Kao the Kangaroo follows the title character as he traverses across different levels. The second game, Round 2, was ported to Steam last year. Although the series is obscure in the West, the overall fanbase was dedicated enough to forge a #BringKaoBack movement, leading to the game's modern release. As we're about to see, that was just the beginning for the boxing kangaroo's reemergence. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY This week, Tate Multimedia announced a new Kao the Kangaroo game is in development. This is not a remaster or remake it seems, but rather a new adventure starring everyone's favorite marsupial hero. On the Steam announcement, says the game will have "new story, challenges, enemies, visuals," and much more. The company says fans can expect a first look soon. In addition to the new game announcement, Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 has been made totally free on . After pressing "Add to Account," the game is free to keep forever. The sale ends June 15 at 1:00 a.m. If you are into core 3D platforming, why not give it a play? It will be very interesting seeing what the new Kao the Kangaroo game looks like. The games have a dedicated fanbase, but the series isn't really notable in the West. If the new game has a high level of quality, it could forge a path of its own today. Of course, the game has to actually be well received first. Bubsy had not one, but two games in the last few years. Both were not received positively. Will Kao fare better? Hopefully fans will be hopping to see sooner than later. Source:
