It seems like Phoenix Labs has decided to flex their writing muscles , the free-to-play behemoth-hunting action RPG developed by Phoenix Labs, will soon recieve its "Call of the Void" content update. This update includes new behemoths, new locations, new challenges, and new abilities. via:PlayDauntless.com But there's one more thing that the game will add which it completely lacked before: an actual story -- and one that players will be able to affect, at that. Dauntless, which we had previously described as "," always had an emphasis on gameplay to the detriment of any narrative -- something that it has in common with its two inspirations. But now it seems like Phoenix Labs has decided to flex their writing muscles as they pit players against the legendary Thrax while they explore a chain of mysterious islands. THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY "For the first time, Dauntless will feature an evolving narrative over the course of the 'Call of the Void' season that will have lasting repercussions on the game world," Phoenix Labs said in a press release. "Players will notice changes over the coming weeks and choices they make will directly impact the narrative arc, culminating in a big surprise when Dauntless’ next content update arrives in July." The update will also come with the new Training Grounds, which will let players test out weapons classes and take a look under the hood of how the game's damage system works. The Training Grounds will give players insight into how different weapons deal stagger, part, wound, and base damage, helping them figure out the finer details of how to take on behemoths in the wild. The "Call of the Void" update arrives June 11 on all consoles and the Epic Games Store.
