Pokémon The 10 Best Shiny Psychic-Types Ranked

Psychic Pokémon are among some of the most powerful and popular kinds, and they're even better when they're shiny. The franchise built its legacy through the games, but the anime also helped bolster it as a long-standing property in the minds of kids around the world. Almost all '90s kids remember watching the episode where Ash Ketchum takes on the Psychic-type Gym Leader Sabrina and becoming terrified by her psychic abilities. That episode is considered one of the series most memorable. It did also show how cool Psychic-type Pokémon can be when trained correctly. Let's now look at and rank the 10 best shiny Psychic-type Pokémon through . THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Delphox

In a vacuum, the idea of a fox witch as a Fire-starter sounds pretty cool. The problem is that Delphox was the weakest Pokémon design in what many consider to be the worst generation of the games. Fans quickly forgot about the as they traded in their disappointment for apathy. Delphox is colored as most Fire-type starters are, which means it's mostly red with mixes of orange and red thrown in. Its shiny form embraces its true witchcraft as it sports a purple fur dress alongside its ghastly light gray primary coat.

Malamar

Malamar is a perfect example of designing something brilliant and interesting and your audience deciding that it's rather forgettable. On top of having a wholly unique method of evolution and being optimal for chain fishing in the games, Malamar has remained in the niche grouping in terms of general popularity. It's a squid inspired design that's arguably one of the more science-fiction invoking designs in the entire franchise. If you prefer greens and yellows over purples and pinks, hunt down its shiny form.

Kirlia

On top of being one of the most feminine designs in the franchise, Kirlia is the poster child of ballerinas in the world of Pokémon. It normally looks like it's wearing a white ballerina outfit with some green stockings, which match the adorable hairstyle it's sporting. One would assume that the shiny version would fully commit to the ballerina aesthetic and embrace the color pink, but that's not the direction they went in. Kirlia's shiny form is red, white, and blue and seems like a play to make it feel more unisex and universally appealing.

Galarian Ponyta

If you happened to be one of the fans who tuned in to the Pokémon stream leading up to the reveal of Pokémon Sword & Shield, then you remember the glimpses of what ended up being Galarian Ponyta. Its design seems like a direct reflection of the renewed popularity the series My Little Pony has seen in the last decade. The cotton-candy unicorn design can be quite a lot for some people, but thankfully the shiny form is a lot more muted and feels closer to a real horse as opposed to a magical fairy-influenced one.

Alolan Raichu

Raichu's entire existence has centered on it living in the shadow of its base form, Pikachu. Part of this is due to the anime featuring a trainer who refused to evolve his own Pikachu, and part of it is because Raichu's design isn't distinct enough to warrant handing a Pikachu a Thunder Stone. Its helped a little bit with this issue in terms of setting it apart, but the shiny form thankfully takes it to a better place. The brown fur works and contrasts nicely with the pop of yellow as an accent color throughout the design.

Hypno

Hypno has always been considered one of the more off-putting designs in the Kanto region. It looks like a humanoid anteater who could guest star in an episode of The Simpsons. It doesn't help that it is rumored to prey on children and said rumors have been mentioned in-game numerous times. With its shiny form turning it from yellow to pink it doesn't fix all of its issues, but it at least makes it a bit more visually appealing. If the rumors of it preying on children for sustenance are true then maybe making it more appealing is the wrong move.

Alakazam

In the introduction of this article, the Pokémon anime episode featuring Sabrina was mentioned. That episode doesn't only sell Sabrina as a terrifying character in the world of Pokémon, but it showcases how awesome like Alakazam are. Normally its yellow body is accented with brown features meant to invoke human clothing. When it comes to the shiny version of Alakazam its design is a lot more vibrant with a magenta color replacing the muted browns. The shiny form communicates its Psychic-typing a lot more clearly.

Orbeetle

Ladybug-inspired designs aren't something new to the Pokémon franchise as the spotted red beetle showed up in the 2nd generation of games via Ledyba. The newest ladybug Pokémon, Orbeetle, takes a more serious approach in its design and gives off strong Professor X vibes. If you're the type of person who isn't fond of ladybugs or the color red but loves the mixing of Bug and Psychic-types, then maybe Orbeetle's shiny form is the move. It becomes entirely purple, which in turn makes its G-Max form look even more absurd.

Espeon

Espeon, one of the more beloved of the evolutions of Eevee, happens to have a very desirable shiny form despite its normal design being pretty great. Normally trainers who pursued evolving their Eevee into the Psychic-type known as the Sun Pokémon would be met with a violet-colored alien cat. Shiny Espeon takes those alien comparisons and cranks the dial to 11 as its entire body shines a neon green. From the split tail to the ethereal eyes, Espeon is meant to feel like a creature foreign to Earth.

Metagross

When looking through all of the it was clear who had the far and away best shiny form. Not only is Metagross the far and away best shiny form of any Psychic-type, most fans consider it to be one of the best shiny forms in the entire series. The decision to trade out the navy blue rocks for silver and match that with the gold facial accent was a brilliant design decision. It turns another rock-looking Pokémon into something that feels a bit more iconic and important. Do yourself a favor and acquire a shiny Metagross by any means necessary.
